Southern Illinois leads 21-20 at half. Definately the best competitive game in the dome this year. The Coyotes have played well on offense and I am impressed with the play calling in this one. Frederick looks good and the receivers are making plays today. Southern Illinois is a pretty bad defense so that is probably helping the cause as well. I haven't been listening to Van Goor much until today but I have to wonder what game he is watching and what he is thinking when calling these games. He has to often correct himself on making the wrong call. There was a very obvious imcomplete pass when the Coyotes had the ball that he called good and got all excited during the play. He needs to not call the play until it actually happens. I don't know if it is his vantage that he is calling the game from and I don't know whether he looks at a monitor when calling the game but he just doesn't seem to be seeing what it happening on the field and announcing the plays appropriately. If only there was a way you could watch the game and not have to hear Van Goor... Oh yeah, you could actually go to the game!

CF, or anyone else who may not have attended, did you by chance view the free online stream on the official website? I noticed this was the lone home game no on Midco or ESPN3, so I'm curious what quality the feed might have been. Here's a link to an archive of today's stream: goyotes.com/watch/?Archive=654

I noticed this was the lone home game no on Midco or ESPN3, so I'm curious what quality the feed might have been. It actually was not too bad. I had a couple of points in the first half where it froze up but I exited and got back into the broadcast and it seemed to work ok after that. There were a few refreshing issues but it seemed just as reliable as the ESPN3 midco version.

The last 3minutes of the game were the loudest 3 minutes I can remember hearing at a Coyote game. Great call by the administration to let students start picking up SDSU tickets right after the game giving first dips to those who stayed. It was fun to see at least a decent chunk of kids stay and support the Yotes as long as they were there. Now we need that kind of student support all off the time for the entire game. Not likely to happen anytime soon but I can dream can't I?

My ears were ringing after the game. So tense. So loud. So awesome. What a home field advantage it is when the fans get into it like that. Props to the students who largely stuck around.
Unlike the last 3 or so years, you can just feel that this team believes they can and should win. It's really fun to watch.

I haven't taken an in depth look around the results in the Valley from yesterday, but I think Seager (26/39, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 333 total yards) and Iddings (5 tackls, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF, blocked FG to clinch the W) may have pretty good chances to take MVFC Player of the Week honors at their respective positions. Great performances from those two guys yesterday. Both guys stepped up and made impact plays in high pressure situations to help us win another close game. This team knows it can win tight games like these and against anyone out there.
Who else enjoys having a winning record in November and still having the word 'playoffs' thrown around with two games remaining? Let's keep that going!
Go Yotes!

We gave up a lot of yards and points yesterday. But we made some huge, clutch plays at the right time.
Officiating was bad. But notice on the last SIU drive the D looked to the crowd and basically said "Get over it. We need you to cheer your loudest now and not worry about some bad calls." And the crowd responded. Great to see and hear!
Student section wasn't at capacity. But as others have noted, those that were there did stay for the whole game. Also great to see!
The playoffs began for us yesterday and we advanced. Go Yotes!

Andrew Van Ginkel was awarded MVFC Defensive Player of the Week for recording 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, and 2 Fumble Recoveries in our win yesterday. I thought Iddings had the better stat line, but that is some incredible production out of our DL.
This is the sixth time so far this year that we have had a player be awarded a weekly honor. To put into perspective, we had just one all of last year. Team is much improved not just overall but also in these individual player performances.

I remember a couple people calling for more Ramsey last week on offense and man did he play well on Saturday. Also impressed by Van Roekel on the 80 yd TD pass, didn't know he had the speed to go that distance. Huge win for USD and sets us up for the first relevant state/U game in a long time. Since we renewed the rivalry, its only been for pride for the Yotes, this one actually means something for both teams. Exciting week ahead and a great time to be a Coyote!
