Word on the street is Middleton is the only holdover. Also saw on the WIU board that their OL coach, Blazek, has been offered the OL job at Rutgers and is a candidate for the Gophers OL job as well. Again, purely rumor from speaking with a few people close to the situation so if anybody has heard different, please inform us. I have been skimming the web looking for info on our coaching staff but haven't been able to find anything.

The twitter accounts for a few coaches from the staff have changed. Wes Beschorner and Marquice Williams are two that have switched to no affiliation with USD.

Why is it taking so long to name some new coaches? I thought it was automatic most of the coaches from WIU would be part of the program.

My hope would be that Coach secures the ones he wants to bring with for sure and gets them recruiting immediately. For all we know that has already happened. For the other remaining position coaches why not try and interview candidates and get the best fit possible. I would guess USD will announce all the staff at once when all positions are filled. A little over 8 months to kickoff...... I know I am not the only one that is extremely excited to see what the new staff does.

I see there is a job opening on the BOR website for an assistant football coach. I believe it's state law that the jobs have to be posted, although we all understand how this college football industry works...

Considering that it looks like the staff will be a complete turnover other than Middleton I could not be happier. What has happened since the Illinois State game ended is just about the perfect storm in my opinion. A complete coaching scrubbing of the program appears to be nearly complete. It's gonna be a fun 2016. We are a year late doing this but better late then never.

I assume that the only reason it is taking so long to name all the assistant coaches is that a few still have FBS bowl games or the FCS Championship game with NDSU and Jacksonville State. Any other thoughts??

There are a lot of things that have to happen before you can formally name staff. One of the biggest issues, if not the largest, is getting everyone cleared through the H.R. Department at USD. Background checks, retirement account setups, etc.
The staff is complete with the exception of one position. That may not get filled until after spring. That may be the explanation of Prosser. Perhaps he is auditioning for the job? Just a thought. He's on contract till June 30th so maybe Coach Nielsen wants to do an evaluation.

I would be shocked if they were waiting on HR to clear them, in the business world that stuff happens quickly. My thought was they were waiting for someone in particular who was still coaching.
I would guess that Yelk will be the DC and Schlafke will be the OC, those are the only two positions you would wait for.....that being said, the only person that has real connections to Bob Nielson that is still coaching is Matthew Entz from NDSU.....I have no idea why he would make a lateral move to USD, but who knows?

That is not a lateral move. That is like saying the D-Coordinator job a Ole Miss is the same as D coordinator at Alabama.
