No way. Classic case of Assumption of the Risk (think skydiving, bungee jumping, swimming with sharks or any other inherently dangerous activity you voluntarily assume) easily solved with a waiver of liability holding USD harmless for any injury. I could write that up in an hour. Anything to see yoteforever suit up. The guy would still battle.

I'm surprised we didn't have to sign one of those during the John Austin era when freshman had to stand there and get decapitated by a senior on their last day of practice for their "last hit". Memories......lol

While I would love to see a revival of the alumni game, I am thinking there might be some concern of starters getting hurt before the season even gets going. Some of these young guys playing now seem more prone to injuries, not just at USD, but everywhere in college football.

It was a lot of fun. The 79 game the alumni tied the varsity. The next two, the varsity drilled us. The interesting fact was how it brought back former players into the fold and excited again. The oldest guy that played was 62. Linebacker. He was a tough ol bird. Lol. Lots of fun I heard about this during my time at the U. I used to think that it would have been a great time, not so much anymore as the years are piling on. lol. Where did the alumni get their equipment? Or was it BYOE (bring your own equipment)? If this happened today, I can picture injury lawyers lined up around the field with decks of business cards in their hands...haha Most people brought their own gear from the local high schools/colleges in the communities they lived in. We also had a number of players that were seniors from the fall before so they kept their equipment till after the game. It truly was amazing how competitive the games were. Defensively, the alumni were treaty darned good. Back then we had Dwight Duncombe play and he was always a threat. That's what's wrong today in my opinion we can't do things like this because of lawsuits, etc. My best memory was the locker room at halftime where the alumni had a keg and passed around a bottle of Jack. Again, fun times and great memories. There has to be a way to do this again if waivers would be signed. It's a shame you can't. And if I remember correctly there were probably 2500 people watching. The first game was at old Inman Field where the business school is now.

Just over a week away from the Spring Game!!! Very excited to get our tailgate on and watch some college football (even if it is a scrimmage).
The excitement from the WNIT run has carried over to football for some of my family members. My brother's family (not Coyote grads -- just casual fans) attended the last three WNIT games with us and had a great time. I recently mentioned to him we were going to the Spring Game and were going to tailgate prior. He, along with my nieces and nephew, all said they wanted to come to that too. They are already talking about going to football games this Fall as well. From what I'm experiencing with my extended family, that WNIT championship run has had an effect on Coyote Athletics far beyond the basketball court.

Thanks for sharing tator. Same thing in my family. My brother and sister in law were at the NIT Championship game with my wife and I and watched the two previous games leading up to it from home. My brother is a typical casual USD fan, but he lost his voice cheering on the Yotes against FGCU. It was awesome. He is now planning a trip back to Vermillion for at least one football game and is excited to attend basketball games in the new arena. I don't think our stories are unique either. Everyone loves a winner.

At half.
Fun offense to watch. Very up tempo. Simmons has a cannon. This style of offense is built for Mike Fredrick.

Who is wearing #4 on defense? Playing slot/nickel corner.

Simmons looks comfortable and has good arm strength. Isaac Armstead has made some good plays at CB. Quite a few bad snaps, need to clean that up.

Joe has called Shamar Jackson Munchie Shufford at least 4 times. Munchie has graduated and non the less was #11, not #13.

I have been very impressed with with Simmons today. Very good awareness... he is confident in his throws... not afraid to tuck the ball and use his feet when he has to... the future of Coyote football is definitely looking up!

I tuned in a little late but saw the last couple of plays and saw the good old Red D stuff the offense at the goal line to get the win 68-65 (I believe). I am glad that Simmons looked good today. If he is the real deal we have him for a few years. I haven't heard Coach Nielsen talk much so I am hoping they have a post game interview with him. Next fall will be the most excited I have been for Coyotes football for a few years at the least.
