Awesome read... I live about 25minutes from Frisco,TX. I attend several bowls in the area, but I have never attended the FCS title game. I will make it a tradition going forward...

"Thus, programs like North Dakota State rely more heavily on walk-ons and player development early in their careers. The Bison, in particular, try to use their lack of a depth to their advantage, doubling routine reps in practice so younger players quickly evolve into seasoned veterans." -high reps for incoming players, great angle to recruit.

So if Calvin Strong sits out this year will he still have 3 years of eligibility? Rule is 5yrs to play 4 seasons; eligibility starts after initial enrollment. -folks are saying he is eligible to play this year -if not, I'm sure the JUCO folks will start hovering...

Calvin Strong lost one year of eligibility last year as he was academically ineligible, leaving him with 4 years to play 3 seasons. He can redshirt this year and still have three more years of eligibility (assuming he is no longer academically ineligible).

Brain giving out, just stated general rule for player eligibility. *It was mentioned he would be eligible at the start of school. I assumed the issue was PTD(Progress towards Degree) which would require 24 credit hours to be eligible this season. Note: First season following USD so lack background knowledge of personnel... This kids potential must be off the charts with so much interest.

I remember Tyler Starr went through the same thing (and that investment turned out alright). I believe Calvin broke a bunch of Nebraska records his senior year. Too lazy to look at the moment thought

Too lazy to look at the moment thought I believe he had the all-time rushing yard or TD record for Nebraska HS football, while playing at the top level of competition. It is however a bit unnerving to hear he wasn't around for the unofficial team practices this Summer (which he absolutely could have participated in as they weren't official practices) when, according to Trevor Bouma's interview on media day, around 90% of the team was around to participate. I'd love for this guy to be all MVFC but he has a ton of work ahead of him before he sees the field.

The preseason Stats FCS poll has been released: www.fcs.football/cfb/polls.asp?div=fcsUSD received enough votes to place 46th. Every single one of our opponents (aside from FBS New Mexico) is ranked or receiving votes: Weber State - 36th North Dakota - 19th Youngstown State - 26th UNI - 5th Indiana State - 56th Illinois State - 10th Western Illinois - 20th Southern Illinois - 61st South Dakota State - 8th North Dakota State - 1st The only MVFC team not receiving votes is Missouri State, the one team we don't play this year.

Poll is crap. If you honestly believe USD is the 46th best team in FCS, or Youngstown 26th, or SIU the 61st, or ISUb the 56th, well, I have some prime property for sale in Florida I'd like to sell you.
