This Saturday USD will make their home debut against Weber State of the Big Sky conference in the front end of a home-and-home that USD will reciprocate in 2018. Weber State, out of Ogden, Utah (which is in Weber County if you're wondering why they are called Weber State), was picked by the media and coaches to finish 6th out of 13 in the Big Sky this season, and is receiving votes in the polls.
Weber State comes in 0-1 with their debut being a 45-6 loss to Utah State. Utah State is a Mountain West team that looks to be at a very similar level as New Mexico if you want to try and make a comparison between USD and Weber State's week 1 result.
Last season Weber State finished 6-5 (5-3 in Big Sky play). Common opponents in 2015 for these teams were NDSU and UC Davis. USD beat NDSU 24-21 and Weber State lost to NDSU 41-14, USD beat UC Davis on the road 27-17 and Weber State beat UC Davis at home 23-3.
My money is on Streveler and Bouma running wild on Weber State with a hope that our defense looks much more organized against a team that isn't running the option. I'll take the Yotes 37-24 for our first W of the season.
GO YOTES!

No surprise there. Streveler makes this offense more potent than our other QBs

Strong is now listed on the roster with no # assigned. I also noticed a new player listed Kemar Downer. Looks like he played DB last year at Florida Atlantic. He is listed as a Sophomore with no #. If he is a transfer I would think he has to sit out a year. It looks like he was a good High School prospect for FCS standards. He played sparingly and on special teams last year. Coming to the game this weekend - first USD game. How is parking? Can we tailgate? What time should I get there? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. There's plenty of parking and tailgating is highly encouraged! Here is a parking map: www.goyotes.com/news/2016/9/7/football-game-day-parking-information.aspx . I suggest parking in the grass lot, the blue one to the west of the dome, as that is the general public lot that is open to tailgating - just be sure to enter from Cottage Street. All lots are open for tailgating starting at 10, a full four hours before kickoff. I like to arrive between 10 and 11 and there's always plenty of people who get there before me, but not so many that you have to worry about a parking spot. Anytime before 12-12:30 and I'd say you're assured a parking spot in that grass lot. The setup for tailgating isn't unified anymore as it was prior to the construction of the basketball arena. There are three separate areas now - the grass lot, the student tailgate, and the tailgate in the parking lot outside the dome. I suggest starting out west and making your way to the tailgating out in the concrete parking lot near the W.H. Over Museum. There is always a large hospitality tent giving out free food and drinks (often beer as well as soda) by the tennis courts just south of the museum, I suggest making your way over there while dropping in on the tailgates in between. I would say that the rules surrounding our tailgating are pretty lax. Just don't start a fight or urinate in public I guess, I don't think security is worried about much beyond that. No one has crossed the line to ruin everyone's fun yet. You can bring your grill, drink out of glass bottles, park wherever you want in the west lot, play some music, throw the pigskin around and have a great time as soon as you park. It's a blast. You are also welcome to go back outside and tailgate some more at halftime if you wish, I always do. The ticket takers/sellers are relieved at halftime so you don't have to worry about being prevented from re-entering. Let us know if you have any other questions about the gameday festivities.

Does anyone have an update on John Wessel? When will he be back?

Maybe could see some time this weekend? If he is an FBS to FCS transfer I would think he could play right away if he was ready.

I forgot about the drop down, play right away rule. I guess we will see if he plays Saturday.

FBS to FCS isn't a drop down. If he was a part of the Florida Atlantic team last year, I believe he will need to sit out this year.
