I agree with the Pelini statements on here, although i'll say our D-Line is one of the best in the country. We are not small by any stretch. Hoping for a good, injury free game. May the best team win!

I won't make any predictions in this unpredictable game of football with an especially unpredictable Coyote team. I believe we can score enough to beat anyone in the conference and I'll pretty much just leave it at that.

Well this is a late call but I have a good feeling about our Coyotes today.
South Dakota 28 Youngstown State 24
Go Yotes!

The game broadcast from YSU is like watching a televised broadcast of a high school game in the 1980s. Their graffics are terrible and antiquated. The announcers would be better suited to give play-by-play of funeral.

Other than the TO for points again (might as well get them out early, I guess?), it seems like the biggest thing I notice is the D line is getting man handled so far. Zero pressure, and the RB's are 3 yards past the line before anyone touches them.

#9 safety has to pick up his play, twice sat; can't do that against a running team, will be a long day... Tyson at LB?

Another pick 6. Just when we were about ready to make this game a nail biter. Ugh.

Got a quick TD there but didn't get the inside kick.
Turnovers leading to YSU TDs were the difference in the game. Got to clean that up going forward.

Unbelievable that we'd stare down a receiver again on a 10 yd out pattern and throw another pick 6!! Haven't we learned anything with those plays?? Has anyone heard of an out and up--naturally the DBs will be jumping these out routes after watching film. Amazing.... Couldn't see the first Q and 1/2 but hats off to the D for a number of stops, picks, and hanging in there. Most of the O plays I saw was very unimaginative--run up the middle for 1 or 2 then up middle for 2 again then throw 20... We have some speedy receivers--why can't we throw a short slant let them break a tackle or two or a swing pass to a speedy back?? Just frustrated right now. The good news is that the Yotes never quit and you have to give YSU credit they have a very good and balanced team offensively and defensively.

The pick six was tipped by Moss the YSU DE which is why it was intercepted. I'm not sure how great of a pass it would have been as he stared down the WR again, but it wouldn't have been easy without it being tipped.

YSU did a great job of bottling up Streveler. He was never able to make any plays with his feet. Yote D looked decent. YSU only averaged 3.0 yards per carry, which was enough as they moved the chains a lot on rush plays.

My 2 ยข... -I'm not a fan of the running QB, prefer a pocket passer that has ability to make all throws. YSU dared USD to beat them via the pass... -YSU's front seven were very good, solid run team, but beatable they had their share of mistakes; their QB was just ok... -couple nice stops by the D, but YSU only punted once -offense has to be maintain possession, convert 3rd downs, and pass consistently to compete in the MVFC.

Our offensive play calling was questionable at best, especially in the 2nd half but lucky to come away with the win. The defense is going to carry this team all year with us.... Credit to you guys. Never quit and gave up but the pick 6 was a back breaker. Best of luck going forward!!

Today was another game where there is going to be a couple more banners hung at the dome for moral victories next to all the others currently hanging in the rafters. This is another game where I don't understand why I seem to be on an island thinking the Coyote defense is not all that good. They gave up 450 yards and 23 points. The D and O were both bad in the first half and neither unit could help the other. When Youngstown was protecting the lead that D played better but before the Pens got out to a sizable lead they once again were mediocre.
