I'm really going to enjoy the rematch (assuming there is one). Coach P and the players described how they made multiple adjustments through the game, only to see them make adjustments to counter. This was a strategic coaching battle, from the sound of it. Good stuff!

Take a look at the players interviews, if you care to. Its often tough to watch the players interviews if they have just lost the game. Especially this one. It looks like Jaycee is holding back tears. And yet both players give credit to SDSU's players and their defense multiple times. Classy, IMO.

When they asked the Jacks players about Arens, they just talked about how they shut her down, and how the whole offense runs through her, so by focusing on her they could shut us down. No mention of her abilities or accomplishments this year (which have been many).

Hey, I don't expect them to stroke USD's ego, but I just think that it is easy to see the arrogant culture when you contrast these interviews. Its even more obvious with the fans, but I won't start that discussion.

I said to the presser from the game in USD.  It's pretty typical for the losing coach to credit the opposing team.  Your coach did it so she could make a dig on the officiating and hope no one noticed.  See what I did there?

But just so I have this straight in my head, the whole take from this game for the USD faithful is:

1. The officials screwed us

2. The media is biased against us

3. SDSU players and coaches have no class

The therapists in Vermillion must make serious bank off you all!

And LOL about arrogant fans.  I posted the facts on the foul discrepancies between the two games and got crickets.  Then the "classy" fans from USD wanted to discredit any degree from SDSU because personal attacks are much easier than arguing facts that aren't in your favor.  Man, that is classy...   Then you come on and question the integrity of our coaches and players because they didn't say enough nice things about you during a post game interview???

I would love to watch the SDSU post-game presser for that game, but I have never seen it.  I assume I would need some kind of insider account on your website.  Alison Arens described Guebert as a "great player" that they had to gameplan around.  Coach P again had lots of nice things to say about how State played.  I've never really heard her NOT compliment the opposing coaches and players, win or lose.

I don't go on your message boards, but those of us who do have had a much nastier experience than you have had here.  And yes, I've had plenty of real-life discussions about sport with the Jacks fan base.  I don't want to characterize all of them as arrogant, but a good percentage is, IMO.

Don't throw that straw-man argument at me.  I never questioned integrity.  I just think there is a culture of arrogance.  Those are two separate things.  Are you starting to see and hear things that aren't there?  Maybe I can recommend a good psychiatrist.

When coach P brings up the fact that SDSU has 5 players on the all conference team she is actually not complimenting them more than she is bringing up how ridiculous it is that all 5 of their starters were named all conference. She has mentioned this at least one other time. I think that really bothers her and shows a disrespect for the other teams in the league IMO. She didn't actually say that it bothers her but by the way she says it is very annoying to her. With 5 all conference players the Jacks should not be playing a game so late in the schedule for first place in the conference. They should be protecting a 3 or 4 game lead by now. Did USD get 5 all conference selections last year when they finished 15-1. Not only did they not have that happen but they have never been the women's pre season pick to win the conference. When it comes to the Women's pre season polls two things usually ends up happening. The Coyotes are picked too low and the Jacks often times to high. It will be interesting to see who gets that distinction next season. The Jacks will be losing at least 2 starters and big contributors but will gain back Miller. USD loses two starters but will probably gain one of two more players that sat out this year. It would be nice for just once if the Coyotes would get the benefit of the doubt.

It is my guess that if these 2 teams meet in Sioux Falls, this will be the premier game of the tourney. It would be most ideal for the game to happen on Tuesday. The Leathernecks are the wild card in the mix. They have illustrated a few talented players as well. The following that the Yotes brought during the WNIT could be reassembled in Sioux Falls. Earplugs will be required.

I do think Coyote fans have a point that the media is biased against them. They have won two straight conference titles are were coming off a WNIT title and were picked third in the conference and have never been the pre season favorite to win the league. SDSU very well may go onto win the Summit this year but I think the two recent losses to Western Illinois and SDSU should have the Coyotes plenty focused on the rest of the year. SDSU on the other hand may have a sense of security that things may be a little easier for them then in reality and it may be a little more difficult to get their attention in practice. There is only a 1 game difference with basically the same remaining schedule.

Keep in mind, jackl, ONE guy offered an opinion -- indicting an entire fan base doesn't follow. Same concept runs the other direction: one person states an opinion on SDSUfans.com, it doesn't follow that the entire fan base has the same opinion.

From my experience the SDSU fanbase instantly breaks out into tears the moment anyone questions their status as the single most storied program in NCAA history.

Taking comments from one or a few posters and applying them to a fan base seems to occur on most fan message boards I've visited.
