I think that with women's basketball you have to look at things a little differently than with the men with regard to height. Average height as well as the supply of girls above a certain height, as well as the small number of girls that are both athletically gifted and tall. Top-flight WBB players from power-5 teams are not always 5'11" and above. The guards, at least. Kelsey Plum, University of Washington, All-american and 1st pick in the 2017 WNBA draft: 5'-8" Rachel Banham, University of Minnesota, broke many scoring records there, #4 pick WNBA 2016: 5'-9" Those are just two off the top of my head. Granted, you usually don't see a whole team of shorter guards, even in the Summit, but you can't afford to overlook a skilled player like Emily Clemens, either. (5'-4")Agree, I'd take a player like McKenna Hofschild of Prior Lake,Minn at 5'3" all day long, she's got special skills,3 pt shooting being one.

You know, because it was from a year ago. Is that what's called "resurrecting" a post/thread or "zombie" thread? Either way, I think this could relate to our newest men's transfer, Cody Kelley. Time will tell. Also, since you are a Jacks fan, consider Macy Guebert, a 5'-8" sister to Madison. I wonder if size was a factor in how hard A.J. recruited or didn't recruit her? (She's a 2019 Coyote commit)

Macy Guebert comes from the same gene pool Maddie came from, so she's probably got the capability to be just as good as Maddie, we shall see, it's got me wondering just like the Yote fans whether she will be or not. She won't be conflicted playing against her sister because this next season is Maddie's last playing for the Jacks. I know Macy's a pretty good shooter just like her sister already because she had some big games shooting from 3 pt land. Macy and Madison are listed the same height,5'8".

I thought Madison was taller than that, but you're right. That makes me wonder if Macy is actually 5'-7". I've seen pictures of the two of them where Macy is noticeably shorter. Either way I doubt the sisters would be conflicted playing each other from different teams. Athletes generally relish those opportunities to play against siblings, or former teammates, or their hometown, home state, etc. Now, Jacks FANS might be conflicted when they are cheering against Macy. I could see that happening.

Also, I've never questioned how good Macy is. If this staff recruited her, she's good. This Coyote women's program has progressed to where they aren't going to take a kid that they don't think can help them, or fit the profile they are after.
I'm just curious to hear why she chose us over State. Maybe she wasn't recruited, or was recruited lightly by A.J. Maybe he figured he didn't have to work very hard to land her. Or maybe she just preferred Vermillion over Brookings, or Dawn's system. That would make some Bunny's heads explode. I'm sure she will be asked that question at some point, and it will be interesting.

Maddie is on pace to break Jill Young's career made three point baskets record total of 305 for both the Jacks and also for the Summit League, she's at 266 headed into her last season and she gets 80+ per season. It will be interesting if Macy can match or exceed that. Even if she gets close, she'll turn out to be a heck of a recruit.

“OT win for @northtartan and they are in EYBL Final 4! @sara_scalia14 three at buzzer forces OT (Ski-U-Mah), then @guebertmacy (The Young Yote) three that gives the lead with 3 seconds left! This group has improved more in last 3 years than any team I've ever seen, amazing!“
Macy Guebert getting some press on Twitter. Playing in the Nike tournament today for North Tartan.

Dawn Called Hempe a "prototype for the motion offense" because she is a true hybrid player, scoring equally well from the arc and the post. That was my thought as well, watching her film. Also, you usually don't see us recruiting that far outside of our region unless it is for an exceptional fit.

AJ was at the quarterback club in Yankton last week. He was asked about Macy. He said that he didn't pursue her as she didn't fit into what he needed at this time. He said she was a great player and thought she would do good.. Just not what he needed at this time.
