Wow. Well I guess that answers that. Pretty shocking if he is being totally honest, given how well Madison has played for him. I guess I didn’t see any announcements about an SDSU offer for her, so it makes sense. Hopefully she will keep that in the back of her mind as a chip on her shoulder.

On a similar note, Morgan Maly, a 2020 forward from Crete, NE that recently committed to SDSU, had an official visit to Vermillion a year ago, took photos with Coach P, etc but never got an offer from us. So maybe she will have that chip on her shoulder too.

It’ll just keep that rivalry tension going. So many kids recruited by both of these teams. Good stuff...

She's 2020, but I won't bust your chops too much.  Bummer we missed on that one, but Creighton was the only P-6 program that I know of on her long offer list, so It's hard to fault her too much.  Great choice for academics and prestige of degree as well.  Good luck to her!  I'm sure she will represent her home state well in the Big East.

Future Yote playing well in high school. Remember, this is Maddy Guebert's sister, the player AJ said he didn't want (Yankton QB Club appearance) when asked why she wasn't following her sister to the Ag school. Which is complete BS... he wanted her. She didn't want to play for him so he is trying to save face.

Great article about the Geubert/Olson family from Zimmer. It's mostly about Madison and Drew (twins), but there is some on Macy at the end. Great basketball family. Here are a couple of good quotes:

Not only was mom a star at Augustana (she was inducted into the Vikings’ Hall of Fame in 1997), their dad, Dan Guebert, played for the Vikings, too. That’s where they met. And Melissa’s dad, Bill Olson, was a key player on the 1962 Augustana team that won the North Central Conference. Bill was inducted into the Viking Hall of Fame six years before his daughter, in 1991.

And the family connection to college basketball won’t end when Drew and Madison graduate after this year. Their younger sister, Macy, is a senior at Eastview and has already committed to South Dakota.

That’s right, when Macy Guebert suits up for the Coyotes, the family will officially have ties to South Dakota State, South Dakota, Augustana and USF.

Bill Olson remains, to this day, one of the biggest fans of Augustana athletics. According to family legend, Bill would stand up and call for the coach to take Dan out of the game if he was struggling, even though he was his future son-in-law.

When Madison committed to SDSU, they bought Bill a Jackrabbits sweatshirt. Asked last week if he’d ever worn it, Bill paused for a full five seconds before admitting he has not.

Still, he’s been able to support his grandchildren while maintaining his loyalty to the Vikings.

After that, the loyalties will switch to the Coyotes, as Macy begins her college career, hoping to make the same kind of impact her siblings and parents did at their respective schools.

“We’ll all be wearing red after this year,” Drew says.

Really? Even Madison?

“Eh, I can root for my sister, it doesn’t mean I have to root for USD,” Madison chuckles. “I’ll be happy to go to her games. I don’t know if I’ll be able to wear red.”

A belated congratulations to Jeniah Ugofsky on winning the 2019 South Dakota Miss Basketball award. She brings the full package with her ability to score, rebound, defend, and and always adding a lot of assists. She committed as a sophomore and has worked relentlessly to hone her game. We are going to enjoy watching her in Coyote Red!
