YF,
In no way were my comments meant to limit expectations. A team should always be the absolute best they can be and I like how Steveler in the post game comments mentioned that they are focused on always getting better and doing that every single week and every single day. Why not go for the conference title and make it a goal but before that can be done wins against WIU and YSU are probable requirements for that. I would take NDSU before I would take Youngstown as far as the more likely team to finish ahead of the other. One thing I have been thinking about since the win is that for a program to be great they have to strive to be great in every single area of the program. Accountability needs to be expected at every corner. There should be no coaching position handed out and none of the starting spots on the team be handed out but instead be earned. If that is the philosophy then the Coyotes will go places. Basically no stone can go unturned in the process of becoming a top FCS program. I think at USD that is finally happening since Nielson took over. The improvement on both lines and on defense is astounding so far and the credit can go all around but it starts and ends with Nielson. Now the obvious next step is sustainability. This is the first time I can think of an instance that a D1 USD team had a big win (Bowling Green) and then not only followed it up positively but followed it up with an even more impressive performance. Usually after big wins they are never built upon. It seems like this Coyote teams is hungry and Nielson is going to keep them striving forward and not taking anything for granted.

After we beat NDSU in Fargo we followed it with a win at home over Mizz st.
Agreed we need to stay humble.
Also looked like Bob was in Kai's ear after 2nd TD run for pointing and too much celebrating.

A win over them wasn't much more difficult then beating Drake. There is no comparison between that year and this year. I don't believe the Coyotes had many if any good wins after the NDSU game.

No tolerance for the flair on this crew.

Meaningless is right. How is North Dakota ranked ahead of Western Illinois and how in the name of all that is holy is UNI still ranked and Southern Utah is honorable mention? I swear UNI could go 1-10 and still be ranked. Still, it is nice to see our name up there. Let the MVFC grind begin.

Beat SIU 2 weeks after beating Mizz st that year after losing at UNI.

I read these boards several times a day and thoroughly enjoy it I might say. I just can't believe that there are people still making excuses why the Yotes are 3 and 0. They crushed Drake scoring 77 points but Drake is not a scholarship team (scoring 77 points is not easily done by any team), they convincingly beat an FBS team but still doubt (they are a low talented FBS), they crushed UND ranked #10 oh but UND didn't play well.... Really? Look at the scores they are winning by!!! I am not saying that scores like that will be easy to come by in our conference but give praise where praise is due. Last year it was we can't stop the run our defense is sub par and Strevy's passing game needs improvement. Well guess what, our defense is fast and stopping the run (stopped one of the best RB's in the FCS, John Santiago), Strevy can throw and run and our offense has many, many weapons! Nielson and his staff deserve to be acknowledged as top notch! The Yotes are not ranked at #14 by fluke, it is because of there hard work and execution on top of all around improvement in speed and strength. Go Yotes!!!!

You had me at Bowling Green... Enjoy the ride, the Yotes are real! I honestly have no idea what the ceiling is for this group, but this team has come out blazing. Football is a game of attrition, if healthy down the stretch this team will exceed all preseason expectations... #bracketbusters

I love the optimism around here, but I'm pretty sure the hardest part of our schedule is still in front of the Yotes. It is a long season so I wouldn't put the cart in front of the horse.

The most gratifying successes are those that you put the work and preparation in for. I'd like to think the funnest and most gratifying part of the schedule is coming up yet. Iron sharpens the sword!

He's one of those leaders that just makes everybody around him better and they know he'll practically do anything not to lose a game this year and aren't going to be the one to let him down.

Unquestionably. We've barely scratched the surface on this season. We start conference play with two teams that we have not beat even once since joining the MVFC. I think everyone else can temper their expectations when they realize nearly every win might be accomplishing something the team has never done before. I expect we finish weaker than we started. The lack of depth we have in certain areas will show. My hope is that we win enough games early to lock up our playoff spot. Maybe we even go into those last two games alive for a share of the title. Gotta escape Macomb first.

Gotta escape Macomb first. Without a doubt... We have to PROVE it again at Malcomb!!! Escape it??? That's just what many of you have to snap out of. Many of you have to make a paradigm shift. The glass is more than half full baby! ... I'm looking forward to meeting you at a game so we can put something on the line that I'm right (like some Spotted Cow???) and am saving my re-quote of my prediction for the season for the end of the season. You know... right now i think if the team went undefeated through the regular season it wouldn't surprise me to see posts that we'll be one and done in the playoffs. Too each their own road I guess.
