Anyone else notice on their Alumni Association email about Ddays activities that it says tailgating doesn't begin until 11am? Hopefully that's a typo. Only 3 hours? If that's the case, then we all need to light up the AD'S office with emails and phone calls.

I emailed the ticket office about this... they told me the Alumni Association is hosting their own tailgate starting at 11am. All other tailgate lots will open 4 hrs prior to game time... still not early enough if you ask me. Would someone with Herbster's ear please tell him we would like earlier access to the lots...?

The tailgate lots have always "opened" at 10, but I do believe you can drive right in anytime. More of a suggestion than a rule.

I've been out there much earlier than that though, and so have many others. The administration, to their credit, has always had a relaxed policy about this.

CF...are you going? I do want to tailgate with you and all members of this forum. I am not much of a tailgater, drinker etc so I wouldn't do any serious tailgating but I could stop by on my way for a couple of minutes on my way the entrance. My game day experience usually involves listening to the Sound of USD during pre game and getting that razor sharp focus on the game. I am getting so excited for this season. I have been pulling up the fight song and listening to it already. I have been listening and/or watching old highlights, basically I can't wait. I have a fever right now for Coyote football and I need to get it out of my mind for awhile because it is still a month and a half away from the first home game. I am looking foward everything starting with football all the way through the end of the basketball season. This season all three of the big three are supposed to be respectable at worst.

CF...are you going? I do want to tailgate with you and all members of this forum. As a member of the forum, I appreciate the invitation. However, like my friend CF, I don't partake much in tailgating activities. Here's to enjoying the rest of the summer before football season arrives.

Please make sure to come by and pet me when you all are on campus for game days. I'm very excited about this season, and I know the boys are too, I hear them talking about how excited they are as they walk into the MUC for their meals. I'll make sure to keep the forum updated throughout camp on which lineman are losing weight and which ones are maintaining their size, as I see the players walk into the MUC in between practices. As for the players' skills, someone will have to stop by and give me updates because I cannot move to the practice fields.

Dear Football Alumni, Hard to believe that official fall practice starts this Saturday. Summer has gone by fast and the new NCAA rule banning two-a-day practices has allowed Division I football programs to start earlier than ever before. We will begin fall camp this Saturday with just over 100 players. As a staff, we are excited to get back to work with regular practice. Nearly all of our 100 plus rostered players were here for training during the summer months and much progress was made in strength and speed improvements. Our summer football camps were also a great success, as nearly 1,000 high school student/athletes attended camp over the course of the summer. These events are extremely valuable to our recruiting for 2018 and beyond. In early July, assistant coach Colin Prosser accepted a position with Minnesota State Mankato, we greatly appreciate his work and on behalf of Coyote football wish him and his family the very best. His position was filled with the addition of Al Sega. Al and I have worked together in the past at both the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and the University of Minnesota Duluth. Coach Sega will work together with Coach Moose coaching our defensive line. Check out Coach Sega’s bio on the website. The University continues to move forward with plans to renovate the Dakota Dome. This important project will provided needed facilities like a new locker room, meeting spaces and enhanced seating and fan amenities. Excitement for the season is building and season ticket sales are running ahead of previous years. Our team has set high goals for 2017 and our focus throughout camp will be to improve every day. Fall camp updates will be posted on our website daily and a new feature will include position overviews by each of our position coaches throughout camp. As I have traveled this summer, I continue to be impressed by the support and excitement of our alumni and supporters. Thanks for all you do and being a part of our team. The previous post of the letter from Coach Nielson mentions that football season ticket sales are ahead of previous years. Does anyone have any further information on this?
I thought a while back it was mentioned that another staff member was hired in the ticket office, so that Chris would be able to focus on selling new season tickets to folks that were not previously season ticket holders. I guess I haven't seen too much promotion for season ticket sales other than on Twitter, but maybe I have missed the new marketing effort. Just looking at seats on goyotes.com, it looks like there are plenty of good seats available for people looking to get season tickets for the fall.
I was just looking on the SDSUFANS.com message board and there is an interesting thread on their game in Brookings against NDSU on Nov 4th. The Jacks fans are trying to buy up all of the seats in the stadium to crowd out the Bison fans. There is certainly a lot of excitement around the SDSU program this year and there will be a lot of great matchups in the MVFC. It is a great time to become a season ticket holder at USD if you have been thinking about it and haven't yet pulled the trigger. It looks like single game tickets go on sale on August 1st for Howling Pack members.

I know nothing about season ticket sales. But I'm working on something similar to the state fans against the Bizon. I've got an order of 40ish tickets to purchase for the State-U game on 8/1 for my fraternity brothers who are coming back for the game. We may even buy an additional 20 just to have as people make up their mind last minute. There will be a few "house divided" attendees, but I figured the sooner we sell out this game the less blue in the dome.
That Dakota Marker game could be interesting when it comes to how much green and yellow is in the stands.

USD has been blasted on both boards when the department got creative last year on getting single game tickets sold to Coyote fans and trying to limit the number of tickets sold to NDSU fans, and more than likely SDSU fans this year. They called the move petty, but here's the reality of it. Home teams are obligated to provide the visitors with so many tickets for parents, alumni, etc. After that, the goal SHOULD BE to have the remaining seats filled with your fans. That's what creates home field advantage, right?
Last year we were able to get 4 tickets for the game in Brookings through their website, and actually they were decent seats. In fact, there really isn't a bad seat in the stadium in my opinion. It's a great outdoor venue. But if the Jacks continue winning, those seats will be harder to get. Good for them. Now NDSU is a totally different matter. They supply the bare minimum of tickets to visiting team, and not one seat more. And that's because they sell out the remaining seats to their fan base. That's how it should be, and that should be our goal as well. If I'm the AD at SDSU, I don't want to see any green and yellow, or red and white if I don't have to.
The bottom line is this. For a few of their fan base to call USD petty in creating a so called scheme to keep them out is preposterous. They do the exact same thing, or would if they could.
If seat expansion is part of the renovation you can bet we will see more green/yellow or blue/yellow in our stands as well UNTIL we learn to support our program on the same level.
