Maybe KWSN can get down to Vermillion next year for media day instead of missing it for the 2nd year in a row. Yesterday was brutal listening to the lovefest for the Jacks all afternoon. In defense of KWSN, I asked them a few weeks ago if they were going to make media day at USD this season and was told they still hadn't been told when it would be but didn't think it would conflict with their Vikings trip to Mankato. Well it did. I have no way of knowing when USD told the media about their plans, but I don't blame them for going to Mankato rather than Vermillion.

That is exactly why I avoided it. It was going to be a full out jack love fest and any non believer would be spiritually crucified. This has a very similar feel to their women's team and how it was a formality that they would make the sweet 16. Even though they have only made the quarters once I am sure the fans are buying their championship tickets and making their hotel reservations for Frisco texas.

Embassy Suites. It's downtown and looks like it's right on the river (capital building side).

Well it did. I have no way of knowing when USD told the media about their plans, but I don't blame them for going to Mankato rather than Vermillion. That is exactly right. KWSN had already committed to Viking training cap before they knew when USD's media day would be. You can't blame them for that. Their station has been more then fair to the Coyotes and I believe they have an affiliate station in Sioux Falls that picks up the Coyote radio feed of football and possibly basketball, although I am not 100% on that. They even apologized to USD fans for not being able to go down to Vermillion. The Argus has a favoritism for the Jacks if for nothing else for always having their top beat writer covering them. Solari, Vandrovec and Zimmer are all or have been much more ra-ra and out spoken about the Jacks then has Mick Garry. Mick Garry I am sure does a good job writing but I think he is lacking in the more modern aspects of a beat writer for a newspaper. When there are video or audio segments that they do he always takes a back seat to whoever the Jacks beat writer is. Honestly Zimmer is still relatively new and Garry should be the expert of the two regarding the Summit, MVFC etc but you would never know it. It's just not in Mick's personality. He is a nice guy just not a take the bull by the horns guy.

The other thing about KWSN is they are a million times better than ESPN 99.1 AND they are a Vikings radio affiliate. They are much better off covering the Vikings if there are conflicts with ANY college media day. 95.7 in SF is an affiliate of KWSN and they carry USD football and men's basketball.

Thank goodness KVTK out of Vermillion carries Cubs baseball, Jim Rome, On the John, & Calling All Sports because when they switch over to their regular ESPN programming it is unlistenable. I just switch the station then.

To make it up they should spend an entire afternoon talking nothing but USD football. You don't need a media day to do that. In fact, it would be in their best interest to promote USD athletics more than any other school, almost exclusively really, given that the Yotes are on 95.7. It's called cross promotion, ESPN wrote the book on how to do it.
