I agree wholeheartedly. As amazing and exciting as the ride has been so far we're less than half way through the season and everyone knows how tough every Valley game is. There's plenty of top notch football left to be played and I hope the second half of the season is as fun as the season's been so far. I trust it will be, but can't get too far ahead of ourselves. One week at a time. I have faith that this staff and team knows that, but, what the hey, fans can do all the looking ahead and speculating we want because taht's what fans do.

Alabama had a turnover yesterday. I guess that means USD's offense stands alone as the only unit to have 0 turnovers on the season. Simply incredible how this team has taken care of the football.

One thing that has totally impressed me is that even though we have endured some crucial injuries (ie. Jensen, Wessel, etc) the guys replacing them haven't really missed much of a beat... next man up... the recruiting of this coaching staff continues to impress beyond measure.

Injuries at LB becoming a concern. Wessel out, now Woodward replaced him and left game yesterday and didn't return. Litrenta then moved to the MLB position. But expect we see more kordus now. This has been what hurts us in the past with lack of depth. Jackson Coker played yesterday for the first time. So that makes 6 red shirts pulled.

An interesting development related to rankings since Saturday: The majority of computers now pick South Dakota as #1. www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare1aa.htmThe lowest ranking is Sagarin at #5 - which as was pointed out on a different thread - actually takes last year into account in their ranking ( ). Sagarin also does a "based on this year only" ranking (again, shouldn't ALL rankings be this year only? I just don't understand, I guess), and in that ranking USD is #1. In fact, in that one, the Yotes are #24 in FBS.

If my memory serves, there hasn't be a turnover of any kind, by either team the last 3 games. Seems like a bit of an oddity, no?

Also, we've had a few failed 4th down conversions. Do those not count as turnovers?

A great start to the season and we are (or will be) seeing the rewards in many areas. One of these has to be in recruiting. The Yotes play an aggressive style of football that has to be attractive to most young athletes. Speed and athleticism is requisite.
The crowds are growing and I don't care if some of the new fans are bandwagon. We have been sitting in the same area for many years and for some time the seats were sold and not occupied. Now there are butts in the seats and most of those butts get up and cheer. It used to be a bit awkward if you were one of a handful who were standing up clapping and yelling on 3rd downs. Now if you sit through all the cheering and yelling it must be because you have a handicap.
Bigger, more enthusiastic crowds are helping to win games, potential recruits, and will undoubtedly influence fund raising for Dome upgrades.
It has always been a great time to be a Yote!

So seriously, aren't these blogs supposed to be the place where arm chair quarterbacks or other overweight former players, who could only dream of playing at this level, voice opinions and ideas on how to make the team better or criticize the coaches for their decisions, because they can do better job? All of this winning has created a giant love fest, yuk!!! Keep this up and the only thing we might be talking about on this blog is sharing tailgate recipes! After watching Saturday's war between two top teams and how we handled everything from controlling their running game to great clock management, I am willing to share my recipe for Tailgate Chili!!!
