I pay little attention to the national FCS scene, is there anyone out there with an edge on Streveler for this award? I have a hard time seeing someone putting up better numbers - especially when weighting the numbers against SOS.

Honestly, SDSU is such dogshit in the playoffs that even if we are seeded in a position to host them we probably won't play them.

It appears that the Coyotes 2017 season is now at a cross roads. The Yotes could keep at a very high level, could sink badly or possibly fall somewhere in between. I tend to think the Yotes will be somewhere in the 8-3 to 9-2 range by the time it is all said and done.
Record and likely scenarios.
1) The Coyotes finish 6-5 by losing the remainder or their games and somehow, someway end up once again with a losing MVFC record. In this scenario there would be tons of heart break in Coyote nation as the unthinkable would happen after a 6-0 start. As unlikely as this sounds it is possible if they don't defeat SIU. If this happens the Coyotes may make the playoffs but I don't believe they should if they finish the year on a 5 game losing streak.
2) The Coyotes finish 7-4 and almost certainly play themselves out of a seed. They would be a 90% bet to make post season but I think almost everyone would be disappointed if the Yotes end the year 1-4. My guess is a first round game on the road with no bye.
3) The Coyotes finish 8-3 and are a lock for the post season. The chances of a seed are about 50-50 considering the strength of schedule. I believe the Jacks were seeded with this record last year. This would be the trickiest record and would offer the most intrigue on selection day. The Coyotes could be anywhere from seeded with a bye to being on the road for the first round with no bye. If the Yotes are seeded it would almost certainly be at 5-8, probably closer to 8.
4) The Coyotes finish strong and come in at a strong 9-2. This would be a 90% chance of being seeded and probably a 50-50 chance of being a top 4 seed. It would likely not be enough to climb to a top 2 seed but anything is possible if no more then one team comes into the playoffs undefeated. A win at NDSU could vault the Coyotes over the Bison even with one more loss but I would seriously doubt it if the Bison finished 10-1.
5) The Coyotes run the table and finish the 2017 Cinderella season at 10-1. This would include an obvious win over NDSU and there would be a 80% chance Coyotes would grab one of the top 2 seeds in the post season and be in the dome as long as they keep winning and the road to Frisco, Texas would go through Vermillion SD. Even if they didn't get a top 2 seed they would have their first two games at home before the semi's. Almost no one could have believed this after last year which was a close but no cigar type year.
I really think the make or break game is the one at UNI in a week assuming a win over SIU. If the Coyotes win that game a 9-2 record is a very good possibility and to me that is the magic number for the Coyotes having a really good chance to make it to the national semi-finals or further. I don't want to get ahead of anything at this point but as a fan that is what we do, look ahead.

Sagarin RankingsTop 10 - 7 of top 10 ranked in MVFC - razor thin margin of error for any of these teams - The competition can make you better or crush you. I think USD will keep getting better. NDSU JMU USD SDSU WIU UNI ILL St YSU Jacksonville St No AZ

At least Massey reflects some reality. Sagarin with UNI & YSU in the T10? Ummm, no.

Youngstown State has 3 wins. We are done with October. 3-win teams don't get to be top 10 in November.
4-win teams shouldn't either, but I'm focusing on the bigger injustice. Just what goes into Sagarin to justify that?

I know that Sagarin includes the results from the previous year (or at least they did last time I looked). So there is that.

3-5 are a joke. OVC and the Southland aren't near the conferences the MVFC is and those teams wouldn't be able to hang with us or most of the teams in our conference.

I guess strength of schedule isn't taken into consideration??? I agree 3-5 shouldn't be ranked ahead of USD!
