Unfortunately, injuries are always part of the equation. I think we're in a lot better position to deal with the inevitable than we were a few years ago. Lots more quality depth here, even if some of it is young. Few years back there were some players being called on that were simply in over their head and I don't think that'll be the case anymore. One of the major things that has separated NDSU from the pack over the years has been their depth. We'll be fine. Really looking forward to this season.

Starting to think that the defense is going to be an 8 men in the box type season to support the DT corps and try to let the DB be on an island and force 3rd & long. Hopefully offense can give them an early lead each game and spend more time pass rushing a team playing from behind.

What a strange lineup of injuries. Eye? Mono? Liver?!?! It is just freshman year Gibbs, need to cut back on the cold ones after practice! Hoping for a speedy recovery on all these guys. We'll need every single guy on the roster ready to play no matter what. We've seen the injuries stack up the past few seasons. The eye thing was pink eye...Gibbs liver injury was the result of a hit he took during one of the first practices. Didn't feel the effects right away.

Still, I can't imagine sustaining an injury to my liver during practice.

Tight ends update. Ramsey has been one of my favorite guys to watch in his time at USD. Hopefully he stays healthy this year

Sorry about that...im still getting used to how to use this site and screwed up again. I meant to comment on TEs...as I'm getting used to this site as I'm getting to know the team...I'm sure we have stud TEs...but Brett played HS ball not too far from us n I can attest he's a freak! I watch what i post on here so i don't give any opposition a heads up...but that dude is incredible.

Tight ends update. Ramsey has been one of my favorite guys to watch in his time at USD. Hopefully he stays healthy this year Interesting to see such depth at an odd position. We have unlimited depth at the receiver position as well, which takes away some playing time for these dynamic tight ends. I'd like to see Ramsey back at his RS Freshman year form. It is a good feeling knowing Herman and Sampson are both freshman. We will have talent at that position for awhile. Up to Strev and Simmons to get these TE's involved. Big athletic TE's that have speed are a nightmare for those little ankle-biting DB's.

Lunch with U report. Sounds like Brett Samson may play just as much as Ramsey & Hale. Kicking down to James & Weese with Long likely a redshirt. Whitcomb and Johnson out for year with knee injuries. No one else mentioned as out for year. Around 9 true freshman expected to play, maybe more depending on injuries. Most of backups on OL true freshman. Sounds like Schultz and Jackson Coker to play on DL. Kai Henry mentioned as playing. Frederick starting RB, but Klett provides change of pace as 30 pounds bigger than Mike and Klett won 200m in high school if I heard Bob correct.
Drake's strength is their line play with several 5th years. So poses an interesting challenge for our squad.

Thanks for the update E. Pray that our O-line stays healthy this year, not off to a good start with two season ending injuries during camp to two potential starters. I'm intrigued by the Coker to d-line move. He seemed to struggle filling the proper gaps last year as an inside linebacker. Hopefully the coaches are trying to make the game more simple for him, line him up as a nine-tech and let him try to sack the QB. I like Klett as the number 2 back, this coaching staff likes their running backs corn-fed, and Klett certainly fits that profile, remember Nico Watson? Klett will develop into a nice player over the course of this season. I'm really excited to see these boys perform next week!

I'm intrigued by the Coker to d-line move. He is talking about true freshman Jackson Coker needing to play DL, not LB Alex Coker.
