Couple things I noticed/confirmed yesterday: - Team speed on D is noticeably better across the board - Team size on both sides of the ball (especially the lines) is noticeably better across the board - Streveler has gone from being a great athlete playing QB to a great QB AND a great athlete (patience, reads, decisions, throws all are top tier) - The Yotes have the scheme and talent to score. And I mean REALLY score. Not sure there is a better O in MVFC.

BTW - I do not buy the narrative that this game proves the BSC is weak. That would be true if a bottom MVFC team drubbed UND, but this isn't a bottom MVFC team right now, so the logic doesn't follow. This Yote team would beat last year's Yote team by 2-3 TD's.

I agree gopheryote. ND beat Missouri State 34-0 last week and Missouri State beat Murray State yesterday. Also as previously noted MT State gave the jacks all they could handle last weekend. Boils down to just a much improved USD team!!!

Nice job today. Your guys needed this game and it was obvious. I don't think you guys are THAT much better than us but that doesn't matter because you just whooped our asses and made most of our team quit. Hopefully your LT is fine and you guys can shut those Jack and Bison fans up. Go win The Valley. Maybe we can see you again in the playoffs. Actually, USD is just that much better. The gas was taken off in the second half but that's okay. The O got to work on the inside run game and that will pay off down the road. Good luck to UND the rest of the way. I hope you win the Sky, but are these teams close? No, not really. Not even close. The Yotes should have won by over 30 in GF last year. They gifted the game to UND. Same thing in 2011. Revenge was very sweet wasn't it? I predict they lose at home next week to MSU. I will take the direction of the Coyote program over theirs right now any day of the week. Someone in The Coyote Nation needs to win a huge Power Ball. Preferably me! Then just write a big check to get that Dakota Dome remodeled as quickly as possible. It could be very nice and turned into a terrible place for the visiting team to win in. As in Dangerous. Go Coyotes! 4ever.

UND is a darn good football team and I would prefer to analyse this game as what the Coyotes did right, not what the Hawks did wrong. The Yotes smacked them in the mouth. The Coyotes went out and took this game pure and simple. Lets see what UND does in their first conference game at Montana State. The place the Jacks just barely escaped with their lives. Having USD's opponents do well from here on out will just strengthen the quality of wins. Smack 'em The Yotes did. And did a whole lot right. I am stunned at how well the younger players are stepping up. Is it great or what? I believe they entertain the Bobcats in GF. I also predict that they lose. And I have a very hard time rooting for any success for them. Go Yotes!

Congratulations on a thrashing. We were beat before we got off the bus, you were all so ready for this game. Lots of talent. Great job by your coaches. I don't have an excuse, the game wasn't close enough to try go there, even on a message board. You won with out a doubt. I seriously do wish you win the MVFC. Always taught highly of you guys, even back in the NCC days.

A few final thoughts on yesterday's game. It is quite rare when a team is up 31-0 at half and the opposing team does not have a turnover. USD had the superior energy and effort yesterday. Josh Hale has elevated his game at TE. His blocking and running after catch are showing up consistently. OL - Needed this unit to take a big step this year and so far they have. Losing Nick Jensen hurts depth considerably. Diggs and Cujo are going to be dominant MVFC lineman by the time they are done. Coach O'Boyle is having an impact on the entire unit. They are playing with some attitude and I love it. Streveler is playing at an extremely high level - everyone should take that in and enjoy him - we do not get a player of his skill level in FCS often. Would have liked him to get pulled a little earlier in the game and reduce some of the hits he was taking once the game was clearly in hand.
Yelk & Co have the defense maximizing the talent on the roster. There are some weaknesses of course and they will have to get better to slow down the more physical MVFC teams. You have to like what you see so far. From here on out the offenses USD will face will be more similar or better than the talent we saw at Bowling Green. Greenfield is leading the way up front and there are several players really close to becoming break-out defensive players.
Three games in and USD has not trailed yet. At some point USD will be tested, be in a close game and perhaps get down multiple scores. Looking forward to seeing how the team reacts when they get punched in the mouth by another team bringing a great effort. I am concerned about USD's ability to make FGs now. So many MVFC games are one score games traditionally - missing 35 yard FGs or less at some point will lose you a game. Wonder if the staff is considering pulling the true Freshman place kicker's RS.
The WRs are locked in - very few drops yesterday. Shamar Jackson ability to hang on to the ball after getting blown up by UND's All-American Safety speaks to his concentration and toughness. Falck made some clutch catches as did Brooks on the perimeter. Looking forward to getting BVR back in the mix - he is such a good blocker and target on the perimeter, it is a great change up from Falck and Case.
The RBs are complimenting each other nicely - still not a clear All-MVFC type performance from that position, but definitely productive. They will push each other and keep each other sharp. Like the WR unit - if you want any touches, you had better be locked-in and focused.
There were over a dozen recruits at the game - that has to help - good crowd and crisp performance by the team. I will say though the timing of the band and the pregame video they were trying to play before taking the field was off. Hope that is cleaned up by D-Days in three weeks. I also think as fans we can make the Dome even louder. Get up and cheer everyone! The team thrives on the energy, and we all saw a few false starts by UND that appeared influenced by the noise. Could do that more often - why wait until third and fourth down to get loud?
Having a Saturday off next week will hopefully get everyone a little healthier. On to WIU - I like USD's chances there - give this staff an extra week to game plan and reflect on last year's heart wrenching loss to them. I expect every bit as much energy from the Yotes when they show up in Macomb for that game. It is WIU's homecoming game btw, so they should have as good a crowd as they can get.
Really proud of the effort we all got to see yesterday. The biggest risk the team now faces IMO is dealing with everyone telling them how good they are. Stay hungry Yotes! I believe they will be hungry and remember that USD has only averaged 2 conference wins a year since joining the league. It is time to make a statement one game at a time that times have changed and this is a different Coyote team than what the rest of the league has seen.
Coach Nielson now has clawed his way back to 7-7 as his HC record at USD. I will predict he will never be at or below .500 winning percentage at USD again. What a solid coach and staff!

Just to add a few more things. I know I talked about UND a bit earlier but this team was not the same team they were prior to the USD game vs after the USD game. They upped their level quite a bit after the big comeback against USD last year. You can say what you want about the Hawks but I believe they ran the table in the Big Sky and didn't lose again until they played their playoff game against Richmond. The Big Sky is obviously not the MVFC but they are not the bad conference that people make it out to be. I believe I saw that the Big Sky is #4 in FCS. They still have Montana, Weber, Montana St, E Washington and a other solid teams. The UND team that was a top 8 seed in the MVFC playoffs brought most of their players back and they were are no worse of a team to start the year then what they were most of last year. Maybe they didn't play their best against the Coyotes but they still beat Missouri State something like 34-0 last week and Missouri State is an improving program. The strength of opponents argument is now over. You don't beat Bowling Green and UND and still have any questions about strength of opponents.
I think we need to see the Klett/Henry tandum from here on out and see them a lot. These two should be combining to get 90% or more of the carries from the tail back spot for this team. Both are very hard to tackle at full strength but we saw how difficult it was when UND started to wear down.
Western Illinois has been playing very good football to start the year. I think they may be better today then when they played the Coyotes last year. This will be a very tough game. I think if the Coyotes play as they have been I can see a win but if the focus level or execution goes down at all it is going to be a tough task to get out of McComb with that W.

Really enjoyed the emergence of Henry and Klett against a defense that had been rumored to be good. Henry with 80 yards on 12 carries, Klett with 68 on 14. Might just have been that weak UND defense though.
Great to again see the team stay on their opponent. Too many games lost last year with the offense losing its rhythm and never recovering. Against UND we just kept scoring, then were able to eat a ton of clock when we wanted to.

Without checking around the FCS, Streveler has a great case for more POW honors. 23/30 for 290 yards and 1 TD, 62 rushing yards on 15 carries with 2 TDs. Still hasn't thrown an INT this year.

I can only wish that UND goes on to win the Big Sky. The better they do the more it helps our strength of schedule. I think they'll pull it together. To me, Santiago is the real deal. I held my breath every time he touched the ball, but our defense did a tremendous job of reining him in.

Congrats, great win. You are currently ranked 7th in the Massey Composite. UND dropped to 20th. 5 of the top 7 teams in that composite ranking are from the MVFC. Will be interesting to see where the major polls will rank you this week.

This Yote team would beat last year's Yote team by 2-3 TD's. I don't think your sample size is large enough. At my last count it was MVFC 5 BSC 2. The top teams in the BSC were demolished. The Bison obliterated the #6 EWU Eagles and of course the dismantling of #10 UND by the obviously way under ranked Coyotes. The BSC is weak, at least compared to the MVFC.
