This is the Valley game of the week, so it will be those announcers not students. That's right. Good to hear. Was it at WIU when Dickerson exploded with that out-of-nowhere dunk? Those announcers were really good, but I don't remember what school that was. Edit: I now realize it won't matter to me, as I will be pretending I'm not watching the game on my phone during my daughters VB game and father-in-law's 70th B-Day party. |

The Coyotes are moving the ball very well so far but missed on a 4th and long at the Neck 30. WIU in their first drive went no where. If this keeps up it will be a good sign.

Western Illinois strikes for 6 but missed the extra point after a procedure penalty on the kick. Western executed a third and long with a nice side line catch to setup the touchdown. Coyotes need a response here. 10-6 Coyotes.

24-6 Coyotes at half. 359-166 are the half time yardage stats. The first thing that comes to mind in this one is the speed and pursuit to the football on defense. This defense is the biggest reason for the big improvement from this team. The defense against the run is especially good. One of the biggest reasons for Western staying close is that they have really executed well on some 3rd down and long conversions. Obviously a big turning point in the game so far is the 4th and short by the Coyote defense. The Coyotes controlled the half from there. Another thing that has improved is the kicking game. I noticed on one one of the kickoffs towards the end of the half the kick came down right at the goal line to the returner. That is an improvement. The kick attempts have been going right down the middle of the uprights. The Coyotes have done no worse then a stalemate on the lines but the Coyote D line has been better then Westerns. All the factors that the Coyotes need to do they have done. A little more consistency on offense and this game is USD's to lose. Getting ready for the WIU passing game in the second half and lets not forget that they are a very good third quarter team but on the other hand they have not been in this type of a position going into the third quarter either.

Halftime here in Macomb. Very warm welcome from the fans. Only 24-6 at half, should be a bigger lead, but we are finishing games this year. Gonna be a win.
