Strev is fine, banged up but will be back, held out because the game was in hand. Andersen not hurt, just a bit of a change up.
How about that Coyote Defense? Holy crap. Way to go boys!!!!

I wish they could have let Strevler play one series - even if just to hand it off a couple times. The air went out of the building when he got hurt - would have been nice to let everyone know he was OK.

Did you see some of the throws Simmons made today? Wow, that kid is good. The Yotes future is bright no matter who is at the helm.

Why has Cody Kase not played at all today? Looks like RT Tanner Anderson is injured as Bianchi is in. Heard Cody took a helmet to the leg against Illinois St. Very deep thigh bruise... should be okay...

Why has Cody Kase not played at all today? Looks like RT Tanner Anderson is injured as Bianchi is in. He got banged up last week and didn’t play again after limping off. Was in uniform today but didn’t play. With all the depth I just think they figure better to let them heal anytime something is nagging.

Extremely proud of the players and coaching staff facing down some major adversity today and coming together to blow out a very talented SIU team. Impressive.

Game observations...
Not good news today for the rest of the MVFC. The Coyotes played without their starting corners and their starting quarterback and won 42-0.
What a great job by the Coyote D and that is the story of the game. The secondary played their best game of the year. If those that broke the rules are coming back depending on the reason for the suspension I would be fine with them riding the pine. The Coyotes were better off with the guys that played today anyway. With all the interceptions it looks like the D has some pretty soft hands with some of the nice picks that were made.
For whatever the reason the Coyote offense was out of sync and I am sure much of that had to do with Simmons just not having the real live game experience to run what is a complicated offense. He is going to be a good QB but the unit was not at it's best today only gaining 280 yards. The D did bail out the O today because without the turnovers this is an entirely different game. Maybe not a loss but much closer.
Not including SIU the Coyotes conference opponents that they beat are a combined 0-6 over the last two weeks. The SOS is really taking a hit lately. The Coyotes today had pretty much everything go right that can go right in a game. If they just have half the fortune next week I would take it. You will almost never see a team get out gained 400 and change to 280 and win 42-0. These next three weeks are going to be brutal. N Iowa will be playing for their playoff lives. NDSU is NDSU and the Jacks are starting to show scary good tendencies. We might be better off if we become NDSU fans because one way or another we will need to win in Fargo to leap frog them for playoff positioning. If NDSU can knock off Illinois State and SDSU it will go along ways to helping the Coyotes finish as the #2 playoff worthy team in the conference unless they should win in Fargo.
Next week at the UNI dome the Coyotes have a chance to knock UNI out of the playoffs and put themselves one win away from a likely playoff seed.

SIU, unlike USD, never stood a chance once their starting QB went down. That backup made so many terrible throws. This defense doesn't force many turnovers, had a lot of backups out there, and still got 5 takeaways. Still great to see a shutout no matter how it comes.
Team got back on track today. Offense wasn't as potent as we're used to, but if Streveler comes out as his usual self at UNI then I have no doubt that the offense will be as potent as it was those first six games.
Playoffs are virtually clinched after this win. Final three games will be all about securing a first round bye, and maybe even winning a conference title.

Did you see some of the throws Simmons made today? Wow, that kid is good. The Yotes future is bright no matter who is at the helm. Yes I did and he looked lost and out of sync. Anyone can throw the ball up. Great one handed catch by the wide receiver in the end zone. Besides that all his throws off target.

Besides that all his throws off target. 11/18 passing isn't bad for first real action against good competition this year. And you don't get PI calls that consistently on errant balls. I thought his deep ball was exceptionally accurate. Didn't give him many middle of the field throws which was more open but always has more inherent risk. Probably trying to stay conservative by letting him throw safer deep sideline stretch plays which he does at a high level. On those plays he rarely threw where a safety was deep or he hit it before the safety was in range. One really bad forced pass while rolling right that he got away with. I bet he's the best backup in the MVFC and I'd take him over some of the starters. He's a run threat too but coaching wisely decided against taking the risk of seeing 3rd QB on the depth chart.

Never want to see anyone get hurt but SIU's QB going down is karma for the SUI bench cheering while Streveler was laying on the field. Totally classless. They were dirty all game long. Hard clean hits and being a physical team is one thing. But the dirty hits like on Greenfield in the 3rd were horrible. How many personal foul penalties did they have? 5?
