CF - I don't know why you are trying to stir up the pot. Depending on how you want to judge it, these teams have played 2 or 3 games in past 10+ years where a reasonable person would say there were in equal divisions (post-transition or pre-MVFC).
I don't think anyone is questioning they Yotes entrance to MVFC is coming at the same time that SDSU is having literally the greatest run ever. So a win streak would be expected.
Now, to say that we should want to be them (again, in their greatest moment ever) means that a trip to the quarter finals and a 9-3 season is the greatest. No one here will buy that - if you want to sell it, go try another board.

Don't forget this is a trophy game.
The Roy C. Davis Little Brown Jug (est. 1926) will be up for grabs. This forgotten trophy resurfaced a few years ago at SDSU. Let's get it back, Yotes!

Here is the recent history of the rivalry in football per wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Dakota%E2%80%93South_Dakota_State_football_rivalryFrom 1990 - present the Jacks are 19-3 head to head. So this is no recent turn of events. but for the history buffs From 1970 - 1989 the Coyotes won the head to head 18-8-1 - some of those years the teams played twice so it is a good thing that hasn't happened much over the past 27 years. 1993 was when they stopped playing twice a year. I do remember that and one of the games was considered non conference. It is never good to be obsessed with the past but one should know it. So please forgive long time Coyote fans for being a little grumpy when it comes to this game.

I would guess that their (Minny-Mich) Rivalry game was pretty well-known at the time when Mr Davis created the South Dakota version in 1926 or 27. Those teams were both national powers at the time. Still, it's almost a hundred years old. Pretty cool, IMO. I'd like to see it affixed to a trophy base of some kind. It's kind of small. Hate for it to get lost again!

I believe in facts and I believe in not hiding from them. The 3-19 record should be posted on the wall in the office of anyone that has anything to do with the football program during this week. If that is offensive than that should give everyone all the more motivation to put an end to the madness. As far as the transition that in no way should give the Coyotes a pass. It only took the Jacks about 2 or 3 years to become a very good FCS program and they were good right away when they entered the MVFC and the conference was still one of if not the best conference when they joined it. The Coyotes did not resume games against the Jacks until 2012 so the Coyotes had 4 years of their transition before even playing the Jacks. That excuse simply doesn't fly.

This is a quick reminder for those who do not normally watch morning television. Friday morning the 4:30 to 7:00 KSFY people will be at the Dome for the morning show. Of course, the talent are grads of NDSU & SDSU. There will be some hype for the morning people for Saturday's game which will likely feature the Coyote admin, cheerleaders, maybe band, and who knows. If they were to let fans in, this coyote cape wearing fan might just drive all night to be there!!! Btw... the cape makes its debut in vermilion this weekend!

You’re always going to have “those” type of fans that look at the glass half empty. Go for it. At least they’re still a USD fan and will always be welcome to be a USD fan. However, is it even a question of whether this season was a successful season if we lose this weekend? What do “those” fans think the goal of this team and its coaches and players is? It’s a national championship! Of course! I’m sure “those”, if honest with theirselves, can respect that many of our players are on this team on their own dime. Of the scholarshipped players, how many do they think had just 1 offer? My guess would be very few. Why do “those” fans think they aren’t motivated enough?
It really bothers me that some are interpreting our coach’s comments as our players quit last week. What a slap in the face after a loss that beaks the heart of the team. Do you know that these players wake up, at times, and are in the weight room at 4 am in the morning and finishing at 9 pm at night? Ya…they quit. Give me a break. If “those” fans that would say such a thing could do hang with the type of schedule the players have, do you think they would quit when it came time to perform? Maybe listen to the coaches post game comments with a little more open mind.
Maybe they just aren’t there YET? Maybe, btw. The season isn’t over. Has this team improved? YES! Are they learning from experience? ABSLUTELY YES! Has this been a successful season if the players lose? YES! …because we are getting there!
As I’ve said before, how our team does and how our fan base is goes hand in hand. Almost ALL of you know that and don’t care to dwell in the past. Our season has already been successful! Will we lose to USD…NO WAY!!! I have to find some rabbit meat for tailgate!!!
That little rabbit dude posting just doesn’t compare both our teams apples for apples and I don’t buy into any of it. Their D has been better? Give me a break! But I guess our home record doesn’t count because we played teams that were down. Whatever! The only thing SDSU can say is that SDSU did beat NDSU and we got smoked. Oh well. It was one game. Every team at every level has had a game like that. Who’s to say how SDSU would have looked if they played NDSU in Fargo? Have you gone to a game at Fargo lately? I’ll give USD a pass for the ONE game they got beat in this year…the others they lost.
This weekend is the time to shut up SDSU and, can I dare say, “those” fans??? I highly doubt it. They’ll always be there. They have absolutely no clue! They have no clue HOW IMPORTANT THAT 12TH MAN IS BOTH DURING ON AND OFF THE FIELD!!! But…”those” fans might just lay claim after we win that national championship that they helped by pointing out our weaknesses and motivating the team. Really?
As always…CAN I GET A BOOM!!! SHACKALAKA!!! AKAKA!!!

CF...I know you have it in you... can I get a big BOOM!!! SHAKALAKA!!! BOOM SHAKALAKA there how is that. I am feeling a bit better tonight after the good performance of the women hoopsters against Creighton. I am still debating if their performance was better of if the Zooperstars performance was better during the pre season Basketball gala. I think both fall into the excellent category. We gotta keep the vibe going tomorrow as the men play at TCU. That would be a big upset to pull off. Whatever happens on Saturday I just hope luck finally shines on the Coyotes as they haven't had much of it lately. I want the fumbles to bounce right into the arms of the red shirts and I want those tipped balls to find Coyote hands. The Coyotes are in dire need of the football gods to be on their side this time. I think if we get that dome loud enough we can maybe persuade them to give a few extra blessings to the red and white.

Soooo...curious, what exactly did the “little rabbit dude” post that was so terrible. If you’re discussing the Jackrabbit Illustrated post I felt he was rather complimentary of your sons unit and the D in general. If you want apples to apple that’ll have to wait until after Saturday...that’s the only true measure I’d guess. Statistically speaking on the season the Yotes are giving up 382.1 yds/gm and the Jacks give up 355.9. Points the Jacks have given up 22.0 to the Yotes 22.8. There are several other stats that show similar numbers. What I think we can see is both teams have good D’s and great Offenses. Let the chess match ensue. Ultimately Matt at Jackrabbit Illustrated is a fan, knowledgeable and insightful. He’s putting in time for Jacks fans because it’s his passion. I’d expect his writing to reflect a Jackrabbit bias and fandom. I like it, but then again I’m a wascaly wabbit...😊
