Soooo...curious, what exactly did the “little rabbit dude” post that was so terrible. If you’re discussing the Jackrabbit Illustrated post I felt he was rather complimentary of your sons unit and the D in general. If you want apples to apple that’ll have to wait until after Saturday...that’s the only true measure I’d guess. Statistically speaking on the season the Yotes are giving up 382.1 yds/gm and the Jacks give up 355.9. Points the Jacks have given up 22.0 to the Yotes 22.8. There are several other stats that show similar numbers. What I think we can see is both teams have good D’s and great Offenses. Let the chess match ensue. Ultimately Matt at Jackrabbit Illustrated is a fan, knowledgeable and insightful. He’s putting in time for Jacks fans because it’s his passion. I’d expect his writing to reflect a Jackrabbit bias and fandom. I like it, but then again I’m a wascaly wabbit...😊 I'm cool with everything and imho, you're on point.

I believe the Summit MBB game has gone a long way to add gas to the fire of the rivalry. TBSD, I can tell already how you’ve influenced this board and I can imagine how pumped you are at games. I honestly can’t wait to meet many of you in Brookings next year(or maybe this year 😉).
As far as the chess match, I’m interested in a few in game moves...
1- How do the Jacks handle Streveler, will there be a spy on him always? If so, who is that spy? Common sense would say Rozeboom but I’m not sure, he’s pretty valuable as a whole to the D. My guess is Balster, sure he’s a safety but he’s a sound tackler and good at reading and diagnosing.
2- How do the Yotes take care of the “3 amigos”? Last year they contained them rather well but at the expense of giving up over 400 yds of rushing. The Yote D-line is much improved so I don’t see that happening. But something has to give to cover Jake and Dallas tightly.
3- Trench warfare, which line units win on Saturday?
So many other mini chess matches as well but those are the big 3 I’ll be watching for.

These are the 3 I would have picked out as well. I think QB pressure will be a huge part of the game. Both our QB's seem to get happy feet and lose their downfield vision a little faster than most true pocket passers. Not a knock on either, they both just have great running ability so its natural to try to create with their legs.

I'll agree to an extent. I won't speak for Streveler but in regards to Christion his happy feet aren't necessarily as prevelant but he'll take what's presented. Let's be honest though, neither guy is a pocket passer, they are dual threats. In past years, yes Christion has taken off. this season he has become better at finding the 3rd and 4th guys in the pattern. Both Streveler and Christion will handle any pressure well as they are seasoned. It's what happens when they break the pocket. TC has found ways to get the ball to guys downfield. I'm not sure as I haven't seen much of Streveler so I cannot speak to that. The few times TC hasn't thrown he's taken off and like CS he can eat up huge chunks of yards. As evidenced by his 90 yd run earlier this year and the 84 yd run last week. Blitz at your own peril I guess is at hand. High reward if you can get either QB behind the line but very high risk if either break out...exciting stuff, the reigning MVFC Offensive POY and the frontrunner for this years award.

Unfortunately I will not make it down for the game, sounds like it'll be a raucous time.

This is off the current topic, 59 years to be exact, but I'm sitting here looking at a program from the 1958 USD vs SDSC Dakota Days game. A few interesting tidbits: USD's roster comprised of 33 players, the largest weighing in at 215 pounds, SDSC (actual name) had a larger roster, carrying 34 players, the giant being a 248 pounder who wasn't a starter, USD's starting offensive tackles both weighed 210 with the offensive line averaging 195, SDSC's offensive tackles were 210 and 197 and, unbelievably the guards were 179 and 188. Not sure what year platoon football became a thing. Late 50's early 60's? I think it's safe to say that neither of these squads would fare very well this Saturday. Any questions on any of this stuff just ask away and I'll do my best to answer. I wasn't at this game...but I could have been. Wouldn't have known what was going on, but some would probably say I still don't.

Crazy to think that at 100 or more pounds heavier that most the lineman are probable as fast if not faster than the lineman 50-60 years ago. The Yotes starting lineman would barely qualify in size to be safeties in today's world.

Anyone that believes in the evolution of the athlete and coaching strategies would probably have to believe that if teams could play each other in a time capsule that any team that is 20 or more years seperated from each other would result in the modern team winning. hows that for a run on sentence.

Usually at this point in the week the "Game Notes" links are up, but nothing yet. I went to the MVFC web site to see what they had up and noticed that they have a story entitled "Arens sparks Coyotes in home opening victory" along with stories about, NDSU women's basketball and SDSU golf. Anyone else find this interesting considering this is a website for a football conference? edit: Here's the link: www.valley-football.org/
