What is the deal with Kent State? They need to stay out of our business and go get their coaches somewhere else.

Just a guess, but a quick google search shows 2015 athletic budgets at $24 million for Kent and $10 million for USD. Didn't try to drill down to comparable football only budgets but I think we can safely assume significant differences.

Per the state website, O'Boyle was at $72,500 and Middleton was at $47,942

So what you are implying is that Joel Nielsen, Kent St's current AD - former USD AD, is poaching Herbie's hires because he believes Herbie is doing a better job than he did while he was at USD...? Hmmmm... possibly. ;-) |

Does the AD play a role in hiring position coaches? I would think it's largely up to the head coach.

Spoke with Dave Herbster in Omaha on Friday and they interviewed receiver coach that day.
