My thoughts are that if Bob leaves then good for him. The administration will need to go out and find the next coach who will elevate USD football to the next level. As long as the administration is willing to put the financial and facility resources towards football we will be able to attract a good candidate to take over the program.
Now, do I think Bob is leaving? No. The turnaround for this program is not complete and any potential suitor has to see how the team has performed at the end of the season the last two years. Another thought, there are more attractive coaching candidates just inside the MVFC, Chris Klieman anybody? Hello? Hell, even Stig should be looked at for a MAC gig before Bob.
If it happens, it happens. I'm not going to worry over it.

Klieman is holding out for something better than Kent state and I can't blame him for that.

The same thing was said about Scott Nagy right up to the point where he left for Wright State. When another school comes around and starts talking about doubling and tripling your salary and making a half million dollars or more a year that is not only life changing stuff but that is some generational money we're talking about. Don't kid yourself, if a G5 school came along and offered Stig $750,000 to $800,000 a year with a bonus package that could get him over a million he would be gone, as would any coach in the FCS, and I wouldn't blame them one bit.

Agree on Stig not going anywhere. He was born a Jackrabbit and will retire a Jackrabbit (and that retirement may come at the conclusion of this season).

At mid season I could see Bob as a desirable candidate but after the finish the Coyotes had I am not sure if I was a FBS program that I would be quite as quick to want to hire him. Just looking at what a FBS school would be considering. His stock IMO is actually slightly down right now. Next season that could improve or it could maybe go down some more. If he has someone willing to pull the trigger on him and it is any kind of a boost in stature or salary now would be a good time for him to jump. With respect, I really disagree with your assessment. I want Neilsen to stay probably more than most people on this board, but to his "stock is down" in my opinion is wrong. Let's review... Defense - lost 4 starters for the last three regular season games and another two (Schultz and Powell) for last playoff game. UNI - dominated LOS. Bad call on fumble at the end gifted the game to an outplayed UNI team. NDSU - laid an egg against best team in the FCS. SDSU - cramp gate, missed FG, amazing catch by Goedert and poor officiating cost us the win. Defense on life support and we win a playoff game on the road and after a disastrous first half, held the number one offense in the country to 13 points in the second half

Of course he should take the opportunity to move to a higher paying job if offered. I am not debating that nor am I debating his exciting brand of football. The thing I am mentioning is that the finish to the year did hurt his stock. It might not have hurt it enough for him to get better offers but it hurt it a little. Frankly I'm a little pissed that everyone keeps bringing up how we finished the season. It's a marathon not a sprint. This team in less than 24 months went from doormat to the playoffs. Let's look at the body of work people. Yes we started off strong and lost a couple down the stretch. But this team NEVER quit and NEVER made excuses. If I'm looking for a coach I want a guy who has dealt with a little adversity. Bob has that experience in spades. Would I hate to see bob and his staff leave, of course but I would be the first to thank him for his efforts and wish him nothing but the best wherever he may land. THIS!!!!

CF, your the guy at Christmas who points out how the punchbowl of Eggnog is half empty, or how batteries were not included in a expensive electronic gift you just got! Must be tough seeing the world through your glasses! As far as the Coyote season goes, yes the last 3 games were tough to lose, but considering some of the adversity we were having and the fact that these 3 were all playoff teams and had a combined record of 29-7, they were not exactly Little Sister's of the Poor we were playing! Overall, most people would say this season was a huge success and far outpaced most peoples expectations in July. When you are the head coach who is responsible for the quick turn around, it is not a surprise that Bob is being pursued by other teams. I would hate to lose Bob and his staff, but this is the reality of college football. If he truly is getting offers, I hope Herbster will do everything in his power to try and keep him, but that may be more that he is capable of. If Bob does leave, more power to him for pursuing his dreams and we would wish him the best of luck. Hopefully, there would be some consideration for a member of his current staff to step up and take the reigns and keep the momentum that has been started. It is clear that USD has been making a commitment to improve in all areas of athletics and I would assume that ever effort would be made to keep this team with the elite in the MVFC.

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl? FCS championship? Slow down Bucky, win the conference and get a seed first...then you can start talking crazy. Do you want to make low to mid six figures or seven figures with opportunity to advance to an upper FBS job? Hey, thanks but no thanks for the arbitrary rules on winning an FCS championship. If I wanted that kind of opinion, I'd prefer it from maybe lakesbison, if you follow my drift...

How old was Frank Solich when he took the Ohio job? 61. He's 73 now. And Frank still hasn't won a conference championship outright... (Sorry. I have hated the downturn the Huskers have taken the last 15+ years, but I was never inspired by Frank either)

In troubling times, we all need to smile a bit... this is a pretty good tribute to Bob to keep him at USD...

Kent State is a mess and always has been. Thats a lot of work to clean up if it can be done at all. Bohl got millions to clean up Wyoming. There might be better opportunities ahead?

Sometimes I wish I would have been more creative coming up with my handle before the first message board crashed after beating Minnesota. Oh well. In other news, another solid bit of work from Bar Stool USD.
