Safe to say any fears I had about recruiting not going well have been assuaged. Hope I'm not putting the cart before the horse here, but I'm especially impressed with the QB recruit from Iowa State. Sets up nicely for the future three years and now maybe the offensive coordinator will feel more comfortable unleashing Simmons in the run game more where he has the capability to be very effective. Probably make the passing game more effective too. Later in the season when he became a weapon in both the run and pass it seemed like it opened things up offensively quite a bit.

You actually think that Simmons is still the starter? No way in hell!!!! Do you really think this kid left ISU to come sit in vermilion to a qb that when 4-7? If that's what you think there is definitely something wrong with you. Sorry to burst your bubble but Simmons is done. I wouldn't doubt if he transfers.

There is very recent history of a P5 QB transfer unseating a returning QB (and highly touted freshman QB), so there is a chance. Of course, usdyotes can't state a thought without trying to burn down the program at the same time, so it is hard to remember that when reading his post.

Yeah, regardless of who starts next year (there is no way of knowing at this point), added competition and depth is always a good thing. I think bringing in a 3-for-3 transfer is more of an indictment of the backup QB's than the starter, especially given the fact that coaches were worried enough to chain Simmons to the pocket early in the season. We don't know how quick this new guy will pick up the system. He could be a stud that starts all three years, or he might need a development year. Who knows?

This again? Tread lightly. You've made your feelings known about Simmons as the QB. Just leave it alone.

Sorry to disappoint you but I know more then what you think. Also when all of you were smoking the pipe about a 10-1 or a 9-2 season I told you all they would be lucky to win 4 games. That being said good luck next season. With Houston on the schedule you might win 5 games now.

Just glanced at the schedule and we have a very good chance of starting the season 5-1. Montana at home. Montana has been down and we get them at home, I expect a win. Oklahoma, loss. Houston Bapist, win. UNC, win. ISUb at home, win. Mo State, win.
Tell me why I shouldn't be confident in a good start when we were Young this year, didn't lose a lot to graduation, and get some good games at home to start the season.
And no, no red kool-aid glasses. The schedule is just favorable until we meet up with UNI.

Maybe start a 2019 season thread and move some posts? Or just remove a certain helicopter parent from this board
