The think that baffles me about people like steelsd is how he can completely belittle everything USD both athletically and academically on other forums, then come on here and think he deserves any modicum of respect. It's like the person who's nice to your face and then rips you behind your back. It's interesting to hear the opinions of the supporters of other teams and most who come on here, Jack fans included, are more than reasonable, but all that guy ever does is come on here and thump his chest over how wonderful everything SDSU is. Can you imagine a USD fan going over to their board and doing the same?

Boy, I could go for some good ol' academic smack talk. I think the one institutional post I've ever seen about USD on their board was a bunch of people deriding our administration for raising activity fees to pay for athletics. A raise that was proposed by, then approved by the students themselves. That fact wasn't relevant though. Just gotta lay the hate down and say the kids should be rioting.

I’m not sure Baylor or Oregon would agree with you. But I guess we’ll see how good we are Sunday. I mean, if we use Learhernecks level headed logic WIU is terrible, then Denver must be atrocious since they lost to WIU. And well, you lost to Denver so I guess USD doesn’t pass the “eye test” of score watching. #1 All he states is that he doesn’t feel you’re as good as past SDSU teams. That’s all he said. Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t. His opinion is you aren’t. #2 Good job on Baylor and truthfully I mean it. I don’t know if Baylor came to play, or you gave a scare to the nations #4 team. Either way...nice job #3 You lost at home to Oregon by 8. I’ve always been told no one wins in Frost ( except us of course ). We beat Oregon at home by 34 a couple years ago #4 You very well could beat us Sunday. I don’t know. We did lose to Denver who outplayed us and shot 63% from the field. Crap happens What you and some of your fellow Jack friends need to realize is you aren’t the lord almighty on women’s basketball. You’re very very good. USD is very very good. WIU has had some very very good teams in the past. You haven’t won a regular season crown in 4-5 years. You’ve won tournaments and are to be congratulated for that, but what truly defines the best team is not a 3 day tournament but rather a full head to head schedule played in each other’s venues. If you win the Summit this year in that manner than you’re back on top. But what I’m saying is it’s been a long time since you’ve been on top. I stand by Leatherneckcontry’s post for now. It may prove out to be incorrect, but for now, I agree. I would respectfully disagree with Leathernecks assessment of our team as being "not being as good as past teams" , as he puts it...Maddie Guebert is the most prolific 3 pt shooter in Summit League history, and continues to add to that record each game she plays, Macy Miller is the "new" all time leading scorer in school history, will soon pass 2,000 pts scored in her career, and will make a run at Kevi Lupers record for all time leading scorer in the conference at 2,277,oh, by the way ,Maddie could end up number four in school history for scoring with 1788 at her current pace of (14 pts/gm) ,....Myah Sellend is a terrific player, probably be next 1000 pt scorer, as is Tagyn Larsen (only 3 yrs eligible playing for Jacks), Tylee Irwin is a little hit and miss right now, but when she's on, she 's a great scorer, Paiton Burckhard, just a freshman, is going to be a beast,Syd Palmer, Rylie Cassio Jensen (who USD recruited) Lindsey Thueninck (scorer, scored over 3,000 pts in HS,r-fr, just getting untracked), Sydney Stapleton (fr),provide enough off the bench while the rest on the roster are still developing. Is it really of his opinion that the Jacks this year aren't as good as past teams? If so, then I have to disagree.

And that was my point. He had an opinion and I stated mine. Sort of the point of a message board. Then elTroll decided to pipe in with something completely unrelated to anything that was being talked about. But me having an opinion on something that was said doesn’t equate me saying we are the lord almighty if basketball. Please reference where I said that. That sentiment has far more to do with your own fan bases sense of insecurities than anything I’ve said. In fact, my point was that we haven’t in fact had teams outside of maybe one that were far more talented than this team. Seems like that in fact is actually me being somewhat negative about our program, isn’t it? And your points are valid except #3 is pretty rediculous. Oregon is not the same team now as they were a couple of years ago. Adding the NCAA women’s player of the year and another player who was awarded as the top power forward in the country. Neither of them were on the team when you beat them, so what happened a couple of years ago is pretty irrelevant. Anyway, I expect your girls to come out fired up on Sunday. Should be an entertaining couple of games. Its not like I said the Jacks are terrible I just said I'm not sure there as good as some teams in the past. Last year the Jacks beat WIU by 36,28 and 29 and WIU made it to the WNIT and much of that roster was the same as the team that won the league the year before. This year we return one senior and one other player with a decent amount of experience and we lost to a UTEP team that has 3 wins on the season. Personally I think that next year we might be one of the favorites to win the league but as far as this year goes yeah I expect we will be down some. Honestly as far as womens basketball goes I think the gap between the top tier teams in the country and everyone else is getting smaller which is great for the sport. I actually agree with the points you make here, but it only points out our inconsistency in our game this year for whatever reason, i'll admit that, but talent wise, we are as good as we've ever been.

Can you imagine a USD fan going over to their board and doing the same? Very good point, that would be annoying to anyone, I think maybe a little bit more humility would be a good thing for all.I personally don't try to denigrate anyone's schools sports team, exactly for the reasons that should be obvious to everyone, I don't even believe in smack talk, even though it's meant to get under your rivals skin, and both sides do it to one another in fun supposedly, but it can get out of hand sometimes.I try and be respectful as a visitor to another schools messaging board, I only wish to debate , not denigrate...eh, that even rhymes.... All that said, I do agree with Steelsd that Equating Oregon from two years ago to Oregon this season is comparing apples to oranges. Oregon two years ago, although a very good team, ended up in the WNIT ,in a multi -team conference for sending teams to the Dance , and was not selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament. The Oregon team this season, has been a top 10 ranked team this entire season, has a future WNBA high draft pick, gave previously undefeated and fellow top 10 team Miss St their only loss thus far , and more than likely will be selected to participate in this year's Big Dance if they don't win the Pac -12's Tournament. I just think this season's Oregon is a little bit better than the Oregon team from two season's ago. That said, it was still a proud occasion when the Yotes annihilated them to win (very hard to do) the WNIT that year. It could be argued, and I believe , the Summit should of had two entrants that year to the Dance. Not that it matters all that much now which Oregon team was better, but it was put out for debate,so……..guilty

Denver comes into the game 2-3 in their last 5 - giving up the same number of points on defense as they are scoring. They are 2-4 on the road in conference play. Hanna S and TayFred will be a key in the game for their defense and staying out of refoul trouble. 3 pt Defense will be vital as well. I believe the Lady Coyotes' defensive intensity and how they are playing on the offensive will provide the difference in this one. I plan to be there, who else will be joining me?
