We will not win a conference game with this defense. Plain and simple. Not unless Youngstown starts that up-and-coming blind quarterback.

Something drastic needs to happen! Special teams and defensive scheme is awful. Both were NAIA coaches and maybe they are over their heads because we are getting picked apart in both these areas. If something drastic doesn’t happen we will not win a game!

I am completely embarrassed. The entire USD organization should be as well! Seriously, the amount of money we have pledged for this program and this is what we get. Bob needs to fire this defensive guy now! And if Bob doesn’t fire him then Bob needs to be fired as well! One season with Chris Strevler does not a football legacy make!

It is extremely difficult to be good at everything when you aren’t good at anything. Can’t stop the run and definitely cannot defend the pass because there are too many conflict players in this defense and by alignment the slot WRs have extremely easy access to the middle of the field. We have to stop something or we won’t stop anything!!! Some of it is just pride in being very simplistic and letting your guys play ball instead of trying to out guess or be creative. I’m telling you, I’ve been doing this a very long time, there are very talented players out there on defense but they are very very confused. We are one 3 and out from losing because the offense has to score almost every time it has the ball.

This is the most dejected and down that I have ever been in almost 60 years of watching and being a fan of Coyote Football. Unbelievable for an Alumni running out of time. To think I was actually optimistic about this season. So disappointing.

It's not a lack of talent that keeps every defender 5 yards away from each receiver, regardless of it being a short route or a pass downfield. Didn't have that problem last year with these same guys. Putrid coaching is the answer.

And I ask again where the hell is Ben Klett? What did he do to not see any field time? What about the South Dakota kids? The kid from west river? Gibbs, Headlee (played 2 years and hasn’t seen the field this year) . Ugh! I’m over it!

To be fair, I want to clarify my previous post - I don’t single out or knock the talents, abilities, or effort of any student athlete. I don’t go there. What am I meant is that this defensive scheme, as a whole, is going to continue to be a complete liability.

In usually one to look at the glass as more half full. The easy excuse is 'well our secondary was so dinged up'. But honestly, the whole scheme seems effed.

Yeah...the while scheme is screwed! Is it all about Bob and playing scholarship athletes, while S.D. kids without scholarships who have however dedicated 3 or more years to the program, played and performed well and now don’t see the field...hmmm...

Blah-that’s how USD played. They showed very little energy or enthusiasm. As fan that’s exactly how I felt walking out of the dome today.

Wow, that was disappointing. Our offense looked better at times but failed to finish a few drives. We also gave up way too many sacks and turned the ball over at bad times. Not sure why we can't go under center when it is short and inches? Most teams can always run the QB for at least a yard, or as others have suggested why not use a bigger RB for third an short situations? Defensively, I have no answers other than the positionless D looked more like a playerless D. If the Defense does not get fixed we will be lucky to get any wins this year. At the end of the day statistically, we won almost every category except the aforementioned sacks we gave up and our poor kickoffs and coverage which is the most glaring problem and easiest to fix. How can we get 3 touchbacks at Oklahoma and manage to get only one vs HBU and keep kicking it to the guy racked up 250 yards in kickoff returns? I may not be the smartest guy in the world but I can figure out to STOP KICKING IT TO THAT GUY!!! Everyone mentions the poor coaching on defense and I agree, but let's look at who is coaching special teams. The Definition of crazy is to keep doing what you have always done expecting a different result, try something different or change the personnel on the kicking team because whatever we are doing ain't working!

At the end of the day we lost and we lost to one of the worst programs ever!

And can someone answer me— where did this defensive coach come from? I was told Yankton college and laughed it off, but now I think my source may be correct!

Super disappointed obviously!!! I'll play a little bit of the devil's advocate--HBU has 20 starters back, nothing to lose, an excellent kick returner against a very outmanned KO coverage unit, we miss an easy FG and XP, they almost beat UTEP an FBS program, put up 61 points last week and most of all we've shown we can not stop the short passing with any regularity and until we do it like Hank Stram said in SBIV when his KC Chiefs beat MN with quick outs--"it's like stealing". HBU I think is tired of losing and maybe have turned the corner. I know one thing for sure I will never give up on Coyote players or the FB program!!! Some coaching changes may be warranted but will not be an immediate fix. Hopefully the team will not give up or the fans!!! GO YOTES!!!
