Good to hear from you lakes! The inactivity on this thread should tell you about how excited we are for this game....
I'm hoping it's a good game. I know YSU is in a bad way right now, but the yotes really played a pretty good ball game last week. At least good enough to allow for a little optimism from me for Saturday. I know it will take more than that to compete in Fargo.
If the yotes put together a good, compete game and play up to their abilities, i think they could compete in any game on the schedule. Baffles me why some weeks they look like a contender and others a dumpster fire. But we'll see what happens.

This week is a great opportunity for USD to continue to build momentum into next season. We don't necessarily need to win to accomplish that, either. Next week is the big test IMO.

We are looking forward to the game. I haven't been to the Fargo Dome as fan before so I'm hoping for a good competitive game. Can anyone recommend a good place for burger after the game. We are spending the night not far from the dome.

The tailgating scene in Fargo is about as good as you'll find so enjoy yourself! The game atmosphere inside the Fargodome is great too.

Senior Day for the Bison. 14 Bison players are having their last regular season home game. Hats off to them.
As for the game:
Will the Bison pound the Coyotes with the run game like the last 3 years or pass it first to set up the run?
The Bison defense needs to be on point. USD's offense has been playing well, so the Bison need to play sharp.
IMO, the USD defense cannot stop the Bison running or passing and will struggle.
Bison roll.

I would agree with your assessment of the coyote defense. I do think the yotes have the ability to move the ball on offense. If there is a weak spot for you guys, it's probably on the defensive side of the ball. But we'll see what happens. Who knows, maybe get a couple turnovers and make a game of it.

The only way USD wins this game is to turn it into a shoot-out and win the turnover battle. I think our defense is going to get gashed, best we can do is slow the Bison down and force a few turnovers.

Stats wise, this Bison team defensively is about the same as the last few teams. Giving up a few more rushing yards but they have been stellar in the red zone on defense. Both teams have a lot to play for. Home field for the Bison and ending the season on a high note the last 2 games for the Coyotes. It will be interesting. Bison, when they are in their base Tampa-2 have been weak in the middle passing game. Can USD exploit this? Simmons running might be an advantage to exploit. Cox is probably not playing and the back up is a big step down.....exploit the slot WR in the seams, the one Cox would cover. This year I think the Bison offense is probably better than the defense and the defense has been playing pretty well. Nielsen needs to take a page from the Bison now. Build depth in the DL so you can rotate 8-9 guys to keep them all fresh with only 30-35 reps. Build an OL that is tough and athletic. Recruit kids and build them. Redshirt them and get the muscle on them and learn how to be a OL at this level. Most coaches say it starts in the trenches and you build out from there. It all starts on both lines. USD significantly improves there, the results will speak for themselves. SDSU is doing the same thing. NDSU always dominated the Jacks on both lines and now they are catching up and the results have shown thru with Jacks winning head/head games and most other games are really competitive.

It's going to take some luck to pull this one out. Everyone do whatever it was you were doing 4 years ago.

Looking back 4 years, does this mean the current NDSU QB has to "break his wrist" or gets injured for us to win?
Bison supporters all point to this as the reason they lost. Evidently the other 21 players were crap.
We lost our starting RB in that game as well and had nowhere near the depth of the Bison. If we win, I hope it will be "straight up" just like four years ago. History shows we can do it. Let's do it again.

IIRC Wentz was hurt on their final offensive series of the game, but I'm pretty sure NDSU fans recall it on being the first play or pregame or some other non-true version.

Terrible review erases any chance of making it a two-score game at half. Likely 28-7 at half instead.
I really thought the game would be closer than this without any turnovers. Offense just hasn't gotten much done the first 20-25 minutes.

We’ve twice over recruited OL in Bob’s tenure. We seem to have OL depth now, and need to focus on DL.
