My guess is that Stig is hoping to keep the trophy after he retires and add it to his collection of antiques at home. That's where the rub lies with me. It is an antique, donated by the family of the oldest pharmacy in SD (that existed before SD was a State). He should not be able to keep something of that kind of value. If nothing else, if it's not going to continue to be exchanged between the schools, it should be in a State museum for posterity sake.
The argument of "we didn't even know it existed, therefore, we don't really care about it" holds no water.
A friend of mine made a very good argument to me last night, "If a long lost wealthy relative you didn't know existed died and was planning to leave you the bulk of their wealth, would you turn it down or feel you weren't entitled to it because you didn't know them or knew they existed?"

If we want to make a splash, we need to do something disruptive (but not destructive). I'm thinking we need to convince some students to make and hang a large banner (a bed sheet should do the trick while adding a traditional college touch) on states stadium over the break!

For those of you who venture into the fantasy world of the bunny boards, has the LBJ been mentioned over there?
Wondering what disillusioned thoughts they are having on the issue?

Not worth it. It is well documented that no one sees that stadium after mid-September.

I'd suggest potentially both campuses. Our leaders could or should be asking for it, too. Obviously they haven't.
I don't know what laws are out there about flyer distribution. Maybe one of the legal minds on here knows if there is any issue there.

The story of a long lost rivalry trophy that was finally won back after two decades, ... Only to be conveniently "forgotten" again is a compelling and interesting one, don't you think?
If the local media tries to bury the lead, ... I'm sure there are national media that might be interested in this story... If not ESPN, there are plenty of other web-based national sports news sites that would eat this up.
The Jacks loved the national attention from college game day. I don't think they will love this story getting out. It paints them in a less favorable light.

Age of the LBJ (1927)Not only is the USD-SDSU the tenth-oldest football rivalry in the country, and the 2nd oldest non-Ivy league rivalry, and the oldest U-stateU rivalry, ... The Roy C Davis Little Brown Jug is also one of the oldest rivalry trophies in all of college football.I can't find a comprehensive article on this subject, but Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive list of football rivalries and their trophies (all divisions) HEREIt will just take some time to go through those listed trophies, and their years. It's older than almost all of the most well-known CFB rivalry trophies.
