I haven't followed UNO's basketball programs since USD moved up, but from what I know, they need to make major improvements from what I remember at the end of the NCC days.

Watched that hatchet piece by ESPN. I'm sure there was a little bias on their part given their history with Trev Alberts. Look, I'm not saying Alberts is making the correct move or that I like to see men's sports being cut because I don't, but OTL basically ignored how much it would cost to move the football and wrestling programs to D1. OTL tried to make the case these programs were doing fine financially when we all know they are not. They ignored the paltry attendance UNO football gets instead making it sound like they were a threat to the Huskers and that is why the program was killed. Seriously one sided story that was told here. Not good press for UNO that was for sure.

I agree with Yote53 comments.
I would like to see someone do an OTL style feature on the effect ESPN has had on college sports.

That's not good when big donors get upset. I probably wouldn't be too happy if I was that donor who gave the $1million for the scoreboard. But I do agree with you the story was one sided.

Seriously one sided story that was told here. Not good press for UNO that was for sure. Couple of comments: - It did look one sided but UNO and T. Albert declined an interview request. So, I put that on UNO and T. Albert. - The elephant in the room is title IX. IMO the reason that football and wrestling were cut was because of title XI requirements not that football and wrestling could not support themselves. One other bit of news this spring for UNO. Blais was openly interviewing with Michigan Tech - that is not a good sign. It appears that things might not be going well in Omaha. I wish UNO all the best. In the long run I think everything will be fine but they have to get past a couple of bumps.
