I can't remember. When will the team start practices this month?

I believe it’s January 19.

Herbster stated on Thayer's show that the turf would be rolled out in the dome immediately following the January 26th track meet. I guess that wouldn't preclude practice being held outside weather permitting.

First FB game is Feb 19th against WIU at the dome. Surprised FB in general and season ticket sales aren't being hyped by now!

I got my tickets. Well, assuming they're on the way.

Indiana State is opting out of the spring season. I wonder how much having no indoor practice facility and the need to practice outside in January and February to prepare for the season factored into the decision or is this just the first domino to fall?

The coach was a huge advocate to not play this fall also. Should be implications for this move

At least we didn't lose a home game.

Numerous college teams have opted out of their various seasons. The NCAA has deemed competition inconsequential enough that players will use no eligibility for participating during the pandemic. And if we are expecting FCS teams to play 2 seasons in 2021 there are more reasons to think it's a good idea not to participate. Get what enjoyment you can out of sports right now, but they are basically exhibitions and shouldn't be taken very seriously.

I think he meant we may see more teams follow and not play.

Some good conversation about MVFC and Summit League in former KWSN host John Gaskins new podcast with Matt Zimmer. Basically rumors going around that teams that draw no one to their games like Indy St and WIU will be opting out. Scheduling is gonna be a mess.

I think he meant we may see more teams follow and not play. Apologies if I misunderstood. Still hoping for a spring season so we can test drive the dome renovations.

Big Sky has had Montana, Montana State, and Portland State recently opt out of the spring season.
I'm also just seeing Southern Utah will be joining the WAC...who is forming a new FCS football conference. Not related to the spring season but interesting nonetheless.

If this spring season all falls apart I'd be fine with a Battle of the Dakotas where we all just play each other. These players have gone through a lot already and missing an entire season matters. People might think it is no big deal but it can make a difference to a player's future, even in an abbreviated season. I look at a player like Daviyon Dixon at Iowa who started the season not very high on any draft boards. This season he wins Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year and is a probable first round draft pick. This season may not have mattered to some but it has been life changing for others. Maybe there isn't as much on the line at the FCS level but these players have put in just as much time and effort to get to this point in their lives and football careers. Don't tell me playing games is not important because it is important to these players. Players need to play.

Peoples health and peoples lives are more important than a football season. If the health officials give it the go ahead fine than play. If not than don't.
