The Coyotes have had fast starts on the road before. Obviously that is nice. What is different is how the team reacted when UNI cut it to 24-14. Past teams would have probably blown the game. This team has a sense of calm. They scored 10 unanswered points and the biggest points of the season so far. The Coyotes responded to adversity today and passed with flying colors. Past teams haven't done that and haven't kept their cool like the Red and White did today. Last week UND was a big step. I think today was twice the huge leap as last week was. These last two weeks are not those games where the Coyotes just walked over an inferior opponent. These were very losable games. I guess Vegas finally messed up this week and I did to picking UNI. Never more happy for both things to be wrong.
Now it is hammer time. The last 4 games have always been tough on the Yotes. Next week lets take another step and change that around as well. Time to get to the dome and cheer on this team. They deserve it more than ever right now. Illinois State is good but the Coyotes should and need to dominate this game kind of like today. That sounds kind of strange considering UNI outgained the Coyotes 393-314. That seems hard to believe cause the Yotes were always in control. That is also what is different. That is called being opportunistic. The Yotes of the past would have outgained UNI by 100 and lost. I think it is actually a good thing that the Yotes can find ways and actually turn the breaks to their advantage.
The defense stepped up when it mattered most. They did it when it was absolutely needed right after the lead was cut to 10. Those are the types of things I look for in a football team. When things get tough, the good teams respond. The Coyotes are now starting to do this. That is the best sign of everything that has happened this year IMO.

Can we talk about the questionable reviews all going UNIs way? The fumble recovery was incredible that they gave them the football. Then the touchdown at the end. My God. I hope Nielsen talks to the league about some of those calls.

I hope Nielsen talks to the league about some of those calls. We never even saw a UNI player hold the ball after that fumble. That was horrible. Got my problems with the TD too but it is at least debatable.

Short and sweet. Convincing win in the Cedar Valley today. Taking care of business. This team is taking care of busy. Time to focus on next week.
Go Yotes!

I am confused about the reaction of the fumble given to UNI. Unless I am referring to a different fumble when they showed the replay on ESPN+ the UNI player clearly had the ball on the ground and it was shown clearly on replay. Once that evidence is known it is a dead ball right there and the Coyotes can rip the ball out all they want but it doesn't matter. There are so many things that I like about replay but sometimes it doesn't favor the Coyotes. I think the touchdown was closer but the UNI receiver had the ball in the end zone and the ball came out after he was tackled. In the NFL that is an incompletion but in college the receiver does not need to control the ball all the way through the catch. I actually like the college rule better.
I understand questioning the refs but the replay puts more fairness in the game and takes some of the power away from the refs and bad calls. Not all of the unfairness just a lot of it. I guess I have a hard time questioning a call when there is a call on the field and a reply involved.
Questioning calls is always fun to do but it is for losing teams. This team is a winner so they get beyond those things this year and it does not define them.

Questioning bad calls when you're on the right side of the win column is a fair criticism. And what is the rule about not completing the catch? So if a receiver touches a ball in the end zone It's just a touchdown? He didn't catch it, he had his hands on it but lost control.

Imo the uni receiver caught the ball and had it long enough for it to be a touchdown but I guess I am in the minority.

Link to UNI fans thread, in case you love reveling in their pity just the same as I do: www.panthernation.com/forum/specific-sports-topic-forums/panther-football/711205-south-dakota-game-fall-2021(They have stated it as a fact that "even" USD is vastly outspending UNI, and that our money made our players fresh for this game via amenities such as cryo chambers. Yes....no one else has ever had to play a tough road game then come back home for another tough game....) Fanhood purgatory. I hate them so much and eat this up. They live in a state where there is no hope for the success they seek, yet never poor enough results to make anything change. Farley has only been there 21 years. I'm sure next year will be different lol.

UNI just cannot stand the fact they are being replaced by the Dakota schools. First it was NDSU, then it was SDSU. Now they just can't handle the reality that USD is passing them by.

UNI just cannot stand the fact they are being replaced by the Dakota schools. First it was NDSU, then it was SDSU. Now they just can't handle the reality that USD is passing them by. UNI under Farley had MVFC championships in 01, 03, 05, 07, 08, 10, and 11. That's 7 conference titles in Farley's first 11 years. Sounds like a guy who has a contract for life. Hope he doesn't jump to Iowa State! I love that the following 10 years have UNI fans so dissatisfied. It's almost as if UNI only ever succeeded because of the ill-advised void the Dakota schools left by being D2 for so long. Put that school anywhere else in Iowa and they'd be fighting Morningside.

What a game, what a gutsy road victory. And they did it with Whitcomb not playing. This defense is for real, and the offense is vastly improved. Save for a Harberts hold that was unnecessary, it’s 28-0 at halftime. Tough first 5 of Q3, and guys need to realize when to go for the strip and when to tackle, the offense did a great job of stopping the bleeding with that FG. Sure it was only 3 points, but it changed the momentum.
I believe that it wasn’t targeting, so correctly overturned. I believe Thomas fumbled and UNi clearly recovered, correctly overturned. I do not see how there was enough evidence to overturn the official that was literally standing there the whole time and saw the receiver not keep control of the ball. I don’t know how that review showed conclusive evidence to chamge the call on the field. Luckily it didn’t matter.
