Theis - 29 carries for 113 yards, 3.9 YPC Thomas - 14 carries for 59 yards, 4.2 YPC
I think we will win every game that we see this. Running at will (with freshmen!) Is so refreshing. I would love to see how many yards came after contact. These guys run so damn hard!

Given the nature of our offense, no huddle etc. I would have never thought that we could also control the clock the way we have the last few games. It feels like it's all coming together.

The announcers kept mentioning the IA kids on USD's roster. At one point I wondered if they were sending some sort of 'they are stealing our players' message or even a 'we need to keep our talent at home' message. Ultimately, I think they were just trying to make a local angle for their viewers.
Anyway, it got me thinking about the very intriguing Imperialism Map they do on the the Reddit FCS site. (For week zero, it is by county closest to the nearest FCS school.) We have almost as many IA counties as UNI. And as it relates to UNI's dominance before the Dakota schools, look how small their yard is now, and think about adding back the UxD's, xDSU's, and even St. Thomas (though they won't get a lot of top FCS talent....for now anyway...).

IMO spreading out the field opens up the running game by not allowing UNI to stack the box. The SD line has been good but the strategy helps them out as well. 3 or 4 receiver sets allows an offense many options. Often times offenses don't always use the entire field at their disposal. Make the defense cover more space and it is easier to take advantage of mismatches. I have been critical of Nielson but he has made tremendous adjustments this year. Maybe the Bob of old is making his reappearance this year.

I remember about a year ago an interview Farley did talking about how Iowa didn’t have reciprocity with neighboring states, and how SD did so when we offer an IA kid it doesn’t take as much $ out of their scholarship budget. Anyone else remember that?

Anyone else remember that? Pretty sure all MVFC schools are offering the same amount of scholarships. Costs aren't really relevant because you don't look at it as lost revenue when you bring an out-of-state kid in who otherwise would never have attended your school. It doesn't cost USD any extra to have a football player from Sioux City than it would from Elk Point. But on the topic, why would South Dakota want reciprocity with Iowa? It costs less for an Iowa resident to go to out-of-state to South Dakota than to stay at home and go to an Iowa school.

Fun map, but I wish they left Pioneer schools off. St Thomas and Drake aren't stealing anyone from the MVFC teams. Also, you'd assume Northern Colorado is a dominant power looking at this. Geographic area is irrelevant. Population is.

I think the overall point was that SD offers in state tuition to Iowa and Nebraska kids but he couldn’t and his budget was finite.

YF was right, this group is built different. Could not be more proud of the performance I witnessed today. Winning the trenches on a weekly basis! I now believe there isn't a game left on the schedule that we can't win, no matter where it's played!
So proud to be a Yote!!!

Remember how in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half UNI came out with a quick TD, 3 and out, quick TD? Cut a 24-0 deficit to 24-14 in the blink of an eye. Lesser teams would have folded. This team responded to that with a long drive that ended in 3 points, and a defense that collected itself and went back to shutting down UNI. I was ready for a collapse but this team is different.

Just walked in the door boys and girls. I think I could’ve flown home as I’m on natural high. Haven’t read the board but for those not there these guys just plain sucked it up and got it done. Even in adversity. Our lines whipped their butts. Our defensive leaders are frickin awesome. Our linebackers are off the chart. What a fantastic team win

I had the radio call on with tv muted and Hot Rod Pattison was on the sideline today as Carter W was getting married. Hot Rod was EXCELLENT today, and after that FG to go back up by 13 astutely pointed out that it wasn’t a TD BUT it gave the defense and the coaches the time they needed to get organized and right the ship. That is exactly what happened. I really like how we’re using the play clock and taking some time at the LOS. In past years, it felt like we were so married to the hurry up that we couldn’t ever get away from it and it was to the detriment of the defense in the 4th quarter. It appears to have allowed Camp the time to process what he is seeing before the snap. He has come a long way since Kansas.
