From here on out every game is a playoff game. If you want a feel for what the demeanor of this team is watch the post game press conference with Samson and Cochrane after Illinois State. No excuses. Took full responsibility. This team is special. Western Illinois is a weird game because it’s where Bob came from plus it’s just strange. Get the win,then come home for SDSU. We need the Jacks to beat NDSU and then we beat SDSU and NDSU. A share of the title isn’t out of reach. Take care of business one game at a time.

Is there even anyone left at WIU from when Bob was even there? Probably not, and no players so it’s probably not even that big of a deal anymore.

It looks like the odds are that Camp will play on Saturday and I think that is vital. A team needs the threat of a passing game to be able to run the ball effectively in most cases. With Camp in there it keeps the Leathernecks more honest.
Lets face it the chances of making the playoffs hinge quite a bit on this game. It is in all practical purposes a must win game. The Yotes probably don't make it with 6 wins and to beat SDSU and NDSU back to back after 2 consecutive losses would be at best a 10% proposition. Even with a win I think the odds of winning 1 of the last 2 are probably around 50-60%.
One thing I like and hasn't been talked about much is the Coyotes secondary. I think they have played really well for the most part. They will need to be good on Saturday as Western is gonna be putting it up quite a bit most likely. I would not mind a game with less than great weather which is something that used to kill the Yotes but against the Necks I think the Coyotes could win a game decided by the running game.
Another key is to not get too conservative with a lead. WIU has a pattern of getting behind and coming back from big deficits, sometimes winning and sometimes not. Staying aggressive on D will be important in this game IMO.
I believe the Yotes will get ahead then Western will come back some but the Coyotes will win by being able to control the ball on the ground in the 4th quarter. This is a very tricky game but I will go with 34-24 Coyotes assuming Camp plays most of the game. If he doesn't play I will go with Western Illinois to win. Officially I am picking the Yotes though.

I'm a bit hinky about this game. For some reason Macomb has always been a tough place to play. Any win here will be nice.

Bounce back week. I don't have anything to say other than that. Run up the score and get everybody feeling good about things again. Take care of business on Saturday and get everybody in the right head space to earn a playoff spot in the final 2 weeks.

The Coyotes need to keep that gas petal down more than ever. In Macomb the forecast is for a high of 59 with 11 MPH wind. Sounds like a nice early November day. I am convinced that the Coyotes D will decide whether this is a win or a loss most especially the pass defense. |

The WIU announcers would be worth a pay-per-view for entertainment purposes. These two inoffensive knuckleheads remind me a little of funny small-town announcers in movies like Bull Durham, Necessary Roughness, or Major League.

I said this a week ago. We’ve entered the playoffs. Every game matters. If SDSU can get the Bizun Saturday and we run the table and Southern Illinois trips up we get a share of the title. That’s a lot of ifs but not an unreasonable feat. This conference is crazy. We are right there in the hunt. If the Bizun win and we beat the bunnies next Saturday that might knock them out of the playoffs assuming UNI, Missouri State take care of business. If Southern Illinois beats Mizzou State then the loser of UNI / Mizzou State is likely out of the playoffs. A lot and I mean a lot can happen these next 2 weeks in determining the playoff teams.
