A great day to be a coyote. Got to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in a while and was proudly red in the middle of a lot of blue. My takeaways after this game are that we are a lot further ahead of state than most people realize. USD didn't play a good game, honestly not even close. But we played well enough on defense to win the game. Of course, state fans are complaining about the officiating. Let's go make some noise in the NCAAs. And Selland remains overrated. Talk about a flop artist. State fans complain about Hannah drawing fouls, but my God was Selland trying to get whistles. Any time anybody got close to her she was sliding across the floor on her back and the blue idiots were booing. It was wonderful.

Are you serious when you say the Coyotes were not even close to playing a good game? That was a defensive masterpiece, both tactically and effort-wise. We controlled the pace from the opening bell and smothered their offense. Coach P dialed up a winning game plan and those women executed it to near-perfection vs. a team that's been annihilating opponents in their second time through the conference.

Lady Yotes--Summit League Tournament CHAMPS!!! Has a great ring to it! Super effort on D overall holding the bunnies to under 25% shooting and holding Selland to 5 points all on FTs and 0-10 FGs!!
AJ can be a piece of work sometimes! At the end of his presser said Selland is the best player around. She's very good but the Yotes have a Lamb and a Sjerven to just name a few coach and Cloe was named tournament MVP so come on man!!
The Lady Yotes are dancing!!! GO YOTES!!!!

It was more a knock on SDSU that the yotes have an off night on offense but can still win by double digits against their next closest competition in the league. Even Coach P after the game said they didn't play well on offense but just played tough D. It wasn't close to being their best game.

Selland would be the 3rd or 4th best player on the USD roster as it stands right now. After our big 3 graduate, I wouldn't be surprised to see Watson or Larkin pass her by in terms of production. AJ is just a bitter little man that can't accept USD has become the top program in the conference. Since this is the NET thread, I'm still surprised state is being considered an at large team. Outside of the UCLA upset, their body of work this season wasn't all that impressive. After UCLA their win against the yotes was probably their biggest win of the season. Is margin of victory in the conference what they are looking at?

These kids are TUFF AS HELL. Who knows what the draw will be but honestly an 11 seed in my mind would be perfect for the opportunity to get a couple of wins. I’m naive but my gut feel is this team is like the team 2 years ago. They can compete with just about anybody outside the top 8. Even then, it depends.
Listen, whatever happens happens. We got the RING, and we’ll hang the banner in the SCSC. We are SOUTH DAKOTA

Day-after-championship changes:
Our RPI jumped up to #42! (likely due to playing the Jacks x3 with their great SOS) Our "net efficiency" stayed the same
Our NET jumped from #36 to #33! (Jacks dropped from #33 to #36)

Now that we have the golden ticket, let's talk about seeding and opponents: I think Creme is probably somewhere in the correct range, but anywhere from 9 to 11 wouldn't surprise me. So who does he have for the 6-8 seeds? seed | team | NET | Q-1 | Q-2 | Q-3 | Q-4 | 6 | Mississippi | 24 | 7-7 | 7-1 | 4-0 | 5-0 | 6 | Ohio St | 31 | 5-5 | 5-1 | 6-0 | 7-0 | 6 | Nebraska | 23 | 3-7 | 6-1 | 8-0 | 7-0 | 6 | N Carolina | 6 | 5-6 | 7-0 | 6-0 | 5-0 | 7 | Georgia | 26 | 7-6 | 5-3 | 2-0 | 6-0 | 7 | GA Tech | 28 | 4-7 | 8-2 | 4-1 | 5-0 | 7 | Florida | 45 | 8-6 | 4-3 | 4-1 | 5-0 | 7 | Kentucky | 34 | 7-7 | 4-4 | 3-0 | 5-0 | 8 | UCF | 21 | 3-2 | 9-0 | 9-1 | 2-0 | 8 | FGCU | 39 | 2-1 | 2-0 | 9-1 | 11-0 | 8 | Utah | 27 | 4-11 | 6-0 | 3-0 | 7-0 | 8 | Kansas St | 37 | 4-9 | 3-2 | 4-0 | 8-0 | --- |

| 9-11 | USD | 33 | 2-2 | 3-3 | 7-0 | 14-0 |
IDK, I definitely see a difference in the seeds. I think we should be favored against all the 8-seeds. From the 7-seeds I like our chances vs Florida or Georgia Tech. I want no part of SEC tournament-champion Kentucky or Georgia. From the 6-seeds I'd take Nebraska, but no thanks on the rest.... I guess I fall on the "best possible seed" side of things. Let's get a Tourney win.

I wouldn't want anything to do with Ayoka Lee in an 8-9 game.

I wouldn't want anything to do with Ayoka Lee in an 8-9 game. Fair point. 6'-6" 3x All-Big XII Center, set NCAA record this year with a 61-point game, Yeah, I'd be fine not playing K State.

Looks like this year's postseason results support the NET as a superior ranking system to the RPI.
At time of seeding/ selecting:
USD RPI = #42 (11-seed equiv) SDSU RPI = #48 (12 or 13-seed equiv)
USD NET = #33 (8 or 9-seed equiv) SDSU NET = #36 (9 or 10-seed equiv.)
I know that there are other factors in the process, but given the success both teams have had in the postseason, ... maybe out-of-conference results in the early part of the season shouldn't hold as much weight. USD was playing like at least a 6-seed, if not higher. SDSU is playing like an at-large team. Easily a 9 through 11-seed. Maybe higher.
Further evidence includes Creighton. They had a very high NET rank, but were seeded 10. And they are in the Elite 8. Seems like "net efficiency" is an important stat.

Since you brought up Creighton, I think it's important to note that Creighton was a true upset team. They played above their abilities and had a relatively easy path to the Elite Eight. USD's wins were still technically upsets, but the level of play between the two schools is pretty drastically different. Based on the eye test alone, USD looked like a team that belonged in at least the Sweet Sixteen while Creighton was very much the Cinderella of the tournament. We were both 10 seeds, but the product on the court was much better on USDs side.
