So it looks like Warren Nolan's site has NET rankings now. Because the formula isn't public, and they tinker with it, I have to assume this is a simulated NET ranking.... that's fine with me. I'll just track both of them. (added to the OP)
#35 USD #49 SDSU
#111 NDSU
#213 Omaha #218 KC #232 Denver #235 WIU #252 UND #256 ORU
#356 UST (dead last)

Here is a big reason they have the #35 ranking.

Just noticed the NET ranking from Warren Nolan hasn't been updated since April 4, I missed that. Guess it isn't a "simulated" NET rank after all. We will have to wait on an official NET rank. But.... I did update our RPI. After the WSU win we are up to a #14 ranking!
and the Warren Nolan SOS is still #1

we have been ranked in the bottom half of the mid-major poll for three weeks. I can't imagine that will hold through the season (meaning we should be higher). Here is a look at that poll, compared to the NET rank: poll | team | / | NET | team | 1 | Missouri St | / | 20 | Missouri St | 2 | BYU | / | 27 | Gonzaga | 3 | FGCU | / | 28 | BYU | 4 | Gonzaga | / | 36 | UNI | 5 | Cal Baptist | / | 39 | Princeton | 6 | SFA | / | 41 | FGCU | 7 | Stony Brook | / | 43 | Buffalo | 8 | Princeton | / | 45 | Long Beach St | 9 | Columbia | / | 53 | SFA | 10 | Drake | / | 56 | IUPUI | 11 | Belmont | / | 58 | Portland | 12 | Buffalo | / | 65 | San Diego | 13 | Kent St | / | 67 | Drake | 14 | Long Beach St | / | 69 | Liberty | 15 | UC Davis | / | 70 | USD | 16 | UNI | / | 71 | Towson | 17 | IUPUI | / | 72 | SDSU | 18 | Bucknell | / | 75 | Toledo | 19 | Towson | / | 77 | Belmont | 20 | UTA | / | 81 | Kansas City | 21 | USD | / | 88 | Ohio | 22 | Drexel | / | 92 | Quinipiac | 23 | Liberty | / | 95 | Kent St | 24 | San Diego | / | 98 | Stony Brook | 25 | Lehigh | / | 99 | Murray St |
I'm not saying we deserve to be in the top 5 or anything based on our performance, but top 15 is reasonable. Really, I'd feel pretty good about our chances against most of this list outside of the top 5 or so.

It’s extremely odd not to see USD and SDSU in the upper 1/3 of this poll and not to see SDSU at all. Just goes to show how lucky we are, also goes to show that most voters only look at records as we are still one of the top mid majors.

After winning vs Creighton by 2 points,
RPI went from #49 to #31 net efficiency went from #136 to #137
NET went from #70 to #64
It's going to be an uphill battle to get back into at-large consideration, but if we win out and beat some teams by 10-20 points, I think the NET rank will slowly increase. We could get into the 50s, which is just outside of at-large for mid-majors, but at least our seed would be better.

Wow! Immediately after beating ORU 90-59, our NET rank went from #61 to #47! Looks like the combination of a strong SOS with an improving "net efficiency" is overcoming our early losses.
RPI went from #30 to #29 net eff went from #139 to #105 NET went from #61 to #47
I still don't know how everything is weighted, but this bodes well for our chance at an at-large if we can keep winning. Although we will be favored in every game, except for maybe in Brookings, running the table is never easy. At least we have given ourselves a shot with that non-con schedule. The SOS will take a hit when we have to play Denver UND and UST x2, but I'm encouraged by this jump.
Go Yotes!

If we can knock off 10-2 UMKC decisively tomorrow, would you anticipate a similar surge? I don't want to put the cart ahead of the horse, but it's fun to consider the possibilities, as well as it'll be interesting to see at what point we begin to plateau in these rankings in light of a weak conference schedule. Thanks, Kiyoat, for all the time and effort you put in to supply us with data.

Thanks, Kiyoat, for all the time and effort you put in to supply us with data. Hard to say, but KC shouldn't hurt our SOS, and beating them by any margin is good for the W/L. Better than losing. Any conference losses will be costly. If the game is close, it won't improve our net efficiency much. If we win by double-digits, I think we would really benefit from that, ranking-wise. Road wins at KC and at SDSU might be considered "Quadrant-1" games, too, depending on if they both keep winning conference games (I think they will). So that would be significant.

The good thing about NET is that the Coyotes tend to beat most opponents by a bigger margin on average than SDSU does. That should help the Coyotes.

Nice start to the Summit season. Nothing wrong with the relatively close win in KC. Blowout of ORU and the Coyotes are just fine.
