The selection show will be at 7:30 tonight on ESPNU.
There is a guy on the VolleyTalk message board who puts a lot of time into projecting the brackets. He has the Yotes traveling to the Twin Cities to take on the Gophers, his overall 14 seed. Other possibilities would be going to Creighton, his overall 13 seed, or Nebraska, his overall 12 seed. I think there is a chance the Yotes could avoid a first round matchup against the host team in whatever sub-regional they get placed in.

I just watched the selection show and our gals are playing the first match against Minnesota. Their top assistant is Matt Houk, former Coyote head coach at USD that actually hired CoachWilliamson to be his assistant. Interesting matchup. Obviously we won’t be favored but crazier things have happened. Either way, our ladies deserve everything they’re getting. Good luck ladies.

It is kind of hilarious but of all the power conference schools the Coyotes not only beat Minnesota but have their number. The football team beat Minnesota. I believe the men's basketball team beat them and the women's team definitely have.
The Yotes are underdogs but it is Minnesota and the Coyotes own the Gophers. Ha ha. My favorite power conference team is Minnesota but their athletic programs have collectively always been kind of a joke.

True, but they are very good at volleyball. One thing to keep in mind is the seedlings are different in volleyball. Only 16 teams are seeded, so this is the equivalent of a 3-14 matchup in basketball terms.
I really think we could have gotten a more favorable first round draw if we had played a little better in the non-conference… but that ship has sailed. What a great reward for this team!

In other news, Omaha turned down the opportunity to play in the NIVC. I’m hearing that Coach Buttermore was asking season ticket holders for donation pledges to be able to participate in that tournament even before the SLT. Very sad for the players that they probably just didn’t raise enough.
Big difference between our two athletic departments.

What a bummer for those players. They earned the opportunity. Oddly, it created a 31 team field, with Arkansas being the only team of the bunch to have a first round bye.

Dang, you’d think in the volleyball hotbed that is Nebraska they wouldve came up with some donations. It might not be the big tourney but those tournaments do help develop programs in terms of fan interest and stuff.

He said that when they notified everyone that they wouldn't be able to do it, they didn't specify a reason. I suppose it's possible that facility conflicts was an issue for them as well. Baxter Arena hosts concerts and conventions, as well as the men's and women's basketball games. Whatever the reason, it's a shame for the great athletes on that team.

It's been 9 years since a Summit Team has won a set in the NCAA Tournament. Being matched up with top-16 teams in the first round hasn't helped, but it would be cool to reverse that trend.
I feel like if we can pass (receive serve) well, we will have a shot.

Can anyone confirm that this will be in ESPN tonight? Or do I need to subscribe to another streaming service that I'll use once and forget to cancel?

I know I've said this on here before, but people in Nebraska just don't care about UNO athletics. It's the little sister school in a market with 2 big programs. I grew up there. There is little to no fan interest outside of family and friends of the players. Same goes for basketball for the most part. The exception is hockey.

It used to be around $5 a month, although it might have gone up a little this last year. I keep mine year-round because I don't have Midco. It makes a huge difference during basketball season.
