Really loving this add. Overall, the past couple of weeks it feels like this program has cut the anchor rope and raised the sails and we're headed for better waters! Yes, I agree. Athletic bigs that can play multiple positions are hard to find... and yet Coach E just brought two good ones in the 2024 class along with her, and you could even add Hillman to that list, as she was originally a Coach E find. I mean, these are all girls from our normal recruiting region, too. Kids who have families that can go to lots of their games. Great recruiting, regional focus, Great experience and track-record coaching, a style that has been the Coyote's M.O. in the Summit, and has won us championships in the past, .... Hard not to feel optimistic, at this point. I won't expect a 1-year turnaround, but I do think in this league it would be hard not to win a lot of games with Grace leading, and a renewed focus on defense. The focus on defense, the tenacity, and the toughness that are Coach E's trademarks are what this team has been sorely missing the past couple of seasons. If we can keep Grace going, have Dufney playing at the level she is capable, and hit on a couple of the newcomers, we'll be solidly in the top 3 of the conference in year 1 with a chance to make some noise. There will be plenty of growing pains early but hopefully by February we are clicking!

With Larkins and Dufney leading us I like our chances. I look for Klosterbuer giving our offense a boost. With Ruthie in the middle with veteran Hempe still here. I like Kieffer and a deep bench of talent could be fun. Coach said today they are heading out to recruit

I like Larkins. After that it is a wait and see. We had some major issues with players being able to play defense. And I realize we may be looking forward to some of the offensive prowess we see in some players, but as for me I’m hoping Coach E brings back the defensive tenacity of the past.

Yeah, I remember some of us spoiled idiots (me specifically) questioning why Krull and Watson rarely left the floor, given their average offensive output…. Clearly they were, and are, elite defenders. Coach knew that, and look what those teams achieved. I have a feeling Coach E will prioritize giving minutes to our best defenders too. Maybe this time around us idiot armchair stat-crunchers will have more appreciation for that strategy!

Defense is something that can be taught if it is a coaching focus. It clearly wasn't under the last coach. You need length and athleticism to play elite defense however and we may not have the horses yet for that, but we may find ourselves surprised once the focus returns to that end of the floor.

I always say that the best thing for your defense is making baskets. Getting stops always seems to be a lot easier when you're actually putting pressure on the other team to KEEP UP.
Honestly, nobody on this team outside of Larkins the last two years has been an above-average college player on either end of the floor.
You need better players, whether new faces or the same who have just improved (that's the beauty of basketball, the opportunity to build and add INDIVIDUALLY to create a better WHOLE is always there). I'm looking forward to seeing how this new staff approaches bringing the best out of all the kids, old and new, as a whole on both ends.

I’m wondering also. Very curious. May 31 is the last day to raid the portal I believe!

Well, generic Twitter analysis shows one athlete has liked the tweet so far, as far as I can tell. Gabriella Jackson, a 2025 6-0 wing from KC (Shawnee Mission). Her summer team also liked the tweet. So we will see.

On your matrix, you have Adara Groman listed as both a freshman and a senior.

On your matrix, you have Adara Groman listed as both a freshman and a senior. Oh geez. That's been like that for a while now. Thanks for the correction, fixed! Neither Groman nor Matulevicius has been in Vermillion yet, AFAIK. I think I remember someone saying Viki was playing internationally this summer. Not sure what is up with Adara.

Any speculation on this one?

no idea! I looked at the twitter accounts of all our 2025 and 2026 offers... no luck. Used to be able to see who likes a tweet, but Twitter blocks that now. Guess we will just have to wait and see!
