OK, here's an (2nd) attempt by me to maintain a roster and recruiting matrix for WBB like you see at VerbalCommits.com for the MBB team. My plan is to continue to update the matrix in the first post so it is current and easy to find. Feel free to post any comments, reminders, updates, etc. Remember that in NCAA D-1 WBB there is a 15 scholarship limit... *(ROSTER LINK)*

First I accidentally created this in the Volleyball forum, then I asked a mod to put it in the WBB, then I decided to manually transfer it back to its own thread... (whew) OK, at least that process got me to think about doing it a little differently.
Because of how the Covid extra year option is shaking things up, I think using the program's method of calling it a "redshirt year" for some players makes sense. Then on this matrix you can see all the players that will graduate together. I'll just keep the "extra year" column this year because those three scholarships won't count for NCAA limits.
With that having been said, it does make sense what our staff has done with the covid option in order to balance classes. It's pretty clear to me that Carson and Duffney will need to redshirt this year. Dufney did play in one game, but I think that won't count against her using the newer 2018 redshirt rules.
Also, I am using an arbitrary method to separate PG from SG and SF from PF: height. Maybe I should be a little looser with that? Duffney will likely play more of a Power forward role in our system, despite the fact that she is 5'-10". The forward spots are really more of a guard position, anyway, I think. We play more of a "4-out" with the power forward sometimes in a Center role, and the small forward usually in a guard role. Recruits that are listed as "wings" could essentially be a guard or forward (2 or 3), so I wasn't sure where to put Judd.
If anyone has thoughts on this, feel free to comment....

Also: the 2025 class is going to be at least 5 girls, and possibly 6. We might want to do what SDSU did in the 2024 class, and aggressively go after all the top in-state prospects early on (like now).
Also: the 2022, 2023, and 2024 classes contain no recruit shorter than 5'-11"! That might change if they add a true point guard in the 2024 class (I think they maybe should).

Carson and Duffney are red-shirts this year, for now, but they don’t announce that in case they need to make a change due to injury or other situation. Neither has played in a game.

Just bumping this thread since we have been discussing recruiting classes and scholarships available. I do plan on maintaining this, so maybe we could pin it? If not, no big deal.
Feel free to correct me on anything.

Is one of the 23’s from North Dakota?
Never mind, answered my own question. Looks like no. I had heard there was a gal from ND coming in next couple years.

I think her club team being from MN threw me off.

Wow, that's great! We should have some healthy competition for post play next year, then. (updated the matrix)

Updated the matrix with Demer's LOI and I moved all the columns over for the upcoming Summer/Fall. Looks like Coach K will have an extra Scholarship or three to add to the current roster, and room to bring some previous Wisconsin/Drake prospects into the Yotes' radar...

Just updated the matrix with the Antony offer, and made some position adjustments.
It's hard to put players in 1-5 positions when there are so many hybrid players and position-less systems out there:
For example, ALL of the "guards" listed on our current roster (Guebert, Larkins, Carson, Bergstrom) and in next year's class (Klosterbuer, Kiefer) were listed as PG/SG or "combo guard (1/2 hybrid)" prospects out of HS. No "true" Point Guards. Larkins has played some Point last year, and she's a little shorter than the rest, so she's a PG on my matrix. Guebert is also 5'-9", but I don't know if she will handle point much? Maybe Bergstrom will be used that way, but she is taller.
Hempe and Hanson were sometimes listed as "Wing" (2/3 hybrid) or "Stretch-4" (2/3/4 hybrid) players when being recruited. both are now listed as Forwards on the roster, so I'm calling them Small Forwards. Both are very good arc shooters with length.
Ugofsky and Duffney are slightly shorter than Hempe and Hanson, but they are both more stocky, and Ugofsky shoots from the arc less often (no idea about Duffney), so I'm calling them Power Forwards.
Broughton is listed as a PF/SF/SG on Hudl, which is essentially a "Stretch-4". I'm calling her a Power Forward for now...
Pep, Mazurek and Demers are obvious choices for Center, because of how they have been played in the past, and size. Although in a different offense I could see Pep being used as a PF.

...Added Beeman as a transfer prospect. Not sure if she would be a 1-year or 2-year. She was listed as a Junior over the 2021-22 season, but maybe a Covid year is on the table?

...Added Beeman as a transfer prospect. Not sure if she would be a 1-year or 2-year. She was listed as a Junior over the 2021-22 season, but maybe a Covid year is on the table? Looks like she was a freshman in 2019-20, so she has played 3 years. Although I don't see any stats for 2020-21, so perhaps she was hurt? At any rate, I would guess with the Covid year she has 2 to play.
