updated the matrix (first post) with the DePerry addition, and adjusted scholarship numbers! We definitely have room for Turner or Coons in the 2024 class, maybe both if we have any attrition or re-classification of players in the current Sophomore class.

Heard coach talk in SF sounds like one will graduate won't say the name Well, that makes sense that we have one commit and two open offers for 2024 then. If that is the case, we could technically take both Turner and Coons. Turner recently got a Gonzaga offer, though. That's a tough one to go H2H against. Turner has a ton of private schools offering her, so mabye that's a preference. If I were her, I'd take a look at the huge number of graduate programs USD offers....

OK, I updated the matrix again. The only way the numbers work with Holmes coming in for two years is one of the upcoming "Juniors" to graduate and leave the program, as was mentioned before. I also wouldn't be surprised to see one of them be considered a senior when the new rosters come out. Six is just too many at the same grade for balancing recruiting IMHO.
Looks like we are finished with the portal! time to focus on future classes.

The 2023-2024 roster is updated on the website. They haven't made any adjustments to class as of yet.
But either someone has to leave or become a walk-on, unless there is something I'm not taking into consideration.

Coach K just posted another "great day to be a Yote tweets.... any ideas on a commit? Bartlett from 2025 was the most recent offer.

So, in terms of the scholarship situation, the fact that we moved Hansen to a senior means she won't be taking her covid year. It also means we could have another open scholarship to work with next spring/summer on a transfer player (or another freshman in the 2024 class). My money is on a transfer though.
There is the other issue of us having 17 on the roster, but only Coral Mason as a known walk-on. Somebody else is walking on, we just don't know who. I'm not saying we SHOULD know. I'm sure the coaches don't want to publicize that kind of thing for privacy reasons. No big deal.
So if Hansen is walking on, then we don't gain a scholarship to use on a transfer or freshman. If someone listed as a Junior now (there are five) is the walk-on, then we will potentially get that extra scholarship in the spring/summer to work with.
No matter what happens, somebody is going to miss out on playing time with a roster of 17. I suppose considering last year's injury situation, extra players is probably a good strategy. If we have anyone go down this season, we won't be in as much trouble as last time. It just takes some roster/ scholarship management. Glad I'm not a coach.

There have been a lot of offers going out in WBB lately, so I thought I'd clean up this matrix (on the first post), and take out some of the "light interest" kids for 2024, 2025 and 2026. I mean, I was only basing those on Twitter follows, which is about as accurate as a Ouija Board or Tarot Cards... Thoughts: 1. With the number of offers out for 2026, I have to imagine they are not putting all the eggs in a Tori Oehrlein or Ashlynn Koupal basket, which makes a lot of sense. 2. One might think that getting the big Tori Schlagel commitment in the 2025 class could help land our Libby Fandel or Jaiden Haile offers, too? If not them, I think it would be smart to keep looking at other wing/ post players to balance that class out. There are 5 scholarships for that group, if my calculations are correct. 3. 2024 has a couple of studs, but there will still be a scholarship open in that class. I wonder if they are planning to keep an open schollie, use it on a transfer, or maybe have one to give Coral? There are options. Maybe they will have a better idea of program needs by the end of the season. Smart. 4. I know some of you have reservations about offering kids too early, but I love it. Especially for local region kids. Glad that we have some 2027 and 2028 offers out there.

Social media posts today show the jerseys of seniors that will be auctioned off this weekend to raise funds for the Dakota Hospital Foundation in Vermillion. It is notable that in addition to the three known seniors, Avila-Ambrosi's jersey is among them, and in fact she is now listed as a senior on the team roster.
