It goes without saying but if the offensive cuts down on turnovers and the defense stops the big play then I like our chances.
I do have to give ND credit against Drake. A 16-0 win at home against that juggernaut is super impressive. Both teams have some clunker games on their schedule but it appears that their one FCS non conference game against Northern Colo. is going to be epic.

Not sure what I learned about our team Saturday against Air Force, a non-AQ team that regularly demolishes FCS schools and gives power-conference programs migraine headaches.
Saturday's game against EWU is a much more meaningful test. I look forward to seeing our d-line in a more traditional confrontation.
I also look forward to seeing what better be a sold-out Dome. If you're aware of anyone that might have made a long trip out to Colorado Springs but harbors no intention of attending the EWU game, please verbally abuse them. Just kidding....sort of.

I hope the coaches and players don't get whiplash from the drastic changes in styles of play between AF and EW! Going from a team that doesn't pass to a team that barely runs...

Watched the replay of the EWU - Washington game on FCS on Sunday afternoon. Their QB, Bo Levi Mitchell, can really sling it. Hopefully Tyler Starr and company can get some pressure on him.
Really looking forward to this game - home opener, defending national champs, check out the new seating in the dome, - be there.

Some game clips from EWU's squeaker loss to the Washington Huskies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCIBEZ4NXtEEWU boasts a VERY solid quarterback and some tall (6'5" tall) and talented WRs. Our defense will be challenged. From what I've seen of and read about EWU, the list of FBS schools I might rather play is not short. But with great challenge comes great opportunity. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to see that Dome full on Saturday. I am of the opinion that an important indicator of fan IQ is quality awareness. This is a quality football team coming into the DakotaDome -- maybe the best opponent to ever occupy the visitor's locker room. It's really no different than welcoming a lower-tier FBS opponent to the Dome (which, of course, on name recognition alone, would bring numbers). I hope fans recognize this.

Our game plan for UW was much different because of the matchup... there's no way we were going to have much success on the ground against their DL. We ran those draw plays to keep them honest and set up the pass... because that was the only way we were going to beat them. Expect a lot more running on Saturday.

I think he is being generous.......................... The EWU game will be very close, and I think USD wins this one. One thing is a lock for sure: this will be much closer than either of UND's next two games against Idaho and Fresno State. Will be really fun watching USD roll you guys at the end of the season - the last time your team is on the FB field as the Fighting Sioux. I understand you're talking smack to a rival, but this game shouldn't be too close, especially if we play like we did against UW. Our players aren't happy. They're pissed off we didn't win, as we expected to. They'll be looking to take it out on their next opponent, which happens to be you guys. Barring a lot of turnovers, I'd guess a 42-20 EWU win. USD is solid and I expect we'll get their best shot though, so who knows.

USD's defense will be much improved and the offense will move the ball on you as well. Add in: 1. you guys are coming off an emotional game 2. You are traveling half-way across the country to a surprisingly hard place to play 3. Next week you have a big rival game against Montana. 4. Your team will be overconfident and expect to march up and down the field against us after watching last year's film. The defense is going to get to your qb and put him on the ground. This will be a hard fought game, but a fun one. No disrespect to your program. I think your team is exceptional - they are just going to get handed a loss this week. Hope you travel out to see the game.

Hope you travel out to see the game. This post got me to sign up for the message board. I'm really looking forward to this game next week. It's not often EWU gets to play a quality FCS program out of conference. That being said. 1) You're talking about last years team. EWU won the national title last year, but that's not going to help us any this year. 2) You're talking about a Minnesota team that went 3-8 year. Minnesota is not exactly a Juggernaut, even if they are in a major conference and up a division. They've lost of NDSU also. 3) USD only won 3 D1 games last year. But again, this is last year. I think most EWU fans are taking this game seriously. I certainly don't expect a blowout based off of some of the things you listed above, but I don't expect a loss either. EWU plays in domes every year (NAU, ISU etc), EWU also has played at UNI, well considered one of the toughest places to play in the FCS. I highly doubt our boys (the fans might be:)) are going to be over confident, their goal is the playoffs, one game at a time.... REALLY looking forward to this game. Here is to a good fought game, no injuries. Any video stream of this game outside of SD and Spokane? Or am i going to have to be stuck to my radio feed (over the internet)

Not sure of the quality or cost of the online video. Game also being broadcast by Midco Sports Net, a SD & ND regional sports network. Not sure if they will make the signal available to others.

Anybody that thinks this is a game we win without a break or 5 doesn't understand college football. We have one "potential" advantage, and that is the DOME.
We need to sellout this game and be loud. The players need to feed off this crowd if we are going to get the win. As much as we like to think we are ready for FCS football, we haven't arrived yet. Are we close? I hope so. But our defense needs to really step up.
If we get this win saturday, then I will say we are closer to being there. I have stated this over and over, EWU is one hell of a good team. I respect them, but I don't fear them. They have been at this longer than we have. I do believe we can play with them, but if there is going to be a blowout, it won't be us blowing them out.
I think eastern Washington is loaded. This would be the biggest upset in the history of USD football if we win this game. I love history.

Yes, we need to show up and we need to be loud! I have a friend who is a season ticket holder that is routinely asked to sit down and be quiet by those who sit around him. Those people need to told "THIS IS A FOOTBALL GAME!" I normally don't get this anxious about a game until the day of, but in this case I can't remember a home opener I've every been this psyched about.

USD has made a very honorable offer for free football tickets to our veterans for a ceremony remembering September 11th. It is a very respectable thing to do. However, why did they roll this idea out three days before the game? This should have been coordinated a month ago. It is also concerning for attendance purposes that they have 600 free tickets to give out just three days before the game. www.keloland.com/NewsDetail6162.cfm?Id=120488

Incredible how some people like to sit there at the game like they are in a movie theater. If there is a poor turnout for this game, it is inexcusable. Is USD doing anything extra to market this match-up and get the word out that the #1 team in FCS is coming to town?
