I have no idea what the chances are that Ms. Koupal wants to go to Vermillion, but I would guess they're pretty remote.
Maybe she wants to stay home in a small town and carry the expectations of being related to the greatest player in program history while attempting to restore the Yotes to a Top 25-type squad. But maybe she doesn't really want that kind of pressure at all.
I wouldn't be surprised if she wants to test herself in a power conference with fewer expectations regarding her lineage while enjoying some of the advantages of "big time" college athletics in a different setting.
But I'd be selling the hell out of staying close to home, continuing the tradition, being the next No. 24 to be an All-American in your home state and becoming a legend.

The chances of Ashlyn Koupal. ending up at USD are much higher now than they were prior to April 10

You're probably correct, but like you said I would be selling the hell out of the opportunity for her at USD. Every kid is different, so who really knows? For some kids the chance to stay close to family is a huge thing.

I completely agree with you. I think that for any disadvantage the U may face in landing a commitment, it has some serious advantages that it can also tout.
Obviously it comes down to what the kid wants. But there are undoubtedly opportunities USD can provide for her that other schools simply won't be able to in terms of proximity to family and friends, tradition and the deep family ties, role within the team, etc. I think any recruiter would love to be able to have some of the tools that the Yotes have when it comes down to selling her and her family.

I think the realism of the kid and the people around them plays a huge role.
I always thought the U would be able to sell the hell out of Mors coming out of high school as it seemed pretty obvious to me that he was never going to play in the Big Ten or Big East or wherever else. So why not sell the shit out of playing in front of your home fans and family with an actual chance to contribute as a college player?
I'm not saying Koupal is comparable to Mors (she strikes me as an obvious high-major talent) but I think the sell job would be similar ... but instead of contributing vs. sitting I think you sell her on being a star, conference MVP, All-America type player instead of going to the Big 12 or Big Ten or SEC or wherever and being a cog in a machine where your family and friends aren't at every game.

Well unfortunately being close to home may not mean that much. If she is getting paid 500k plus per year she can fly her parents to her games. Might be crazy times
