I don't pay much attention to recruiting battles but I bet that we have beaten them for some recruits even though we shouldn't even be in the same conversation as Creighton. I think this might be a major reason. In the last few years Creighton has been successful pulling top recruits from SD, and in winning recruiting battles between them and USD/SDSU. Carly Bachelor (Kansas), Morgan Maly (Nebraska), Emma Ronseik (SD) and Lexi Unruh (SD) were all top recruiting targets for USD and SDSU that ended up going to Creighton. They are all starters, too (well, not Lexi...yet). These are just off the top of my head. There may be more. It doesn't seem to matter how many times we beat them. A Big East private school with a strong MBB brand is always going to be tough to recruit against. Them playing twice in the vicinity of Sioux Falls is great for them, win or lose. Just like when our teams go up to MSP or Down to KC to play. It adds exposure and brand recognition to top recruits.

Plus, they are actually a very tough team this year, with a ton of returning starters off of their upset Sweet 16 team. We just barely beat them in Omaha last year, producing one of our best offensive performances at the time.

The Yotes are playing at Bradley on November 13, per Bradley‘s Twitter account. In the past this game was a head scratcher, due to it not helping out our net very much. This year I like this matchup due to the new staff and new roles. I am surprised though that it’s a road game for us, I might be mistaken but wasn’t it a road game last year too with Bradley? (Edit: it was a home game, this’ll be a good first road test then)

The lady Yotes host Drake on December 6, in Vermillion. Nice. We have played Drake several times recently. Almost seems like every year. Great rivalry game to get some more butts in seats and raise the RPI. * looking it up * Here's our history with them: 1979/80 @ Drake.... L 1979/80 @ USD ......L 1980/81 @ USD ......L 1980/81 @ Drake ....L ... 2011/12 @ USD ......W 2012/13 @ Drake ....W 2013/14 @ (neutral) L 2014/15 @ Drake ....W 2015/16 @ USD ......W ... 2018/19 @ Drake ....L 2019/20 @ USD ......W 2020/21 (non-con cancelled) 2021/22 @ Drake ....W 2022-23 @ USD The series is 6-6, but 6-2 in the D-1 era

South Dakota is on Fordham’s schedule, in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving!
So that fills the fifth and sixth game spots, although we don’t know who the other opponent is. Fordham‘s other opponent is Washington, though.

Ok, so UW’s other opponent is Santa Clara, so we possibly play Santa Clara as well.

Ok, so UW’s other opponent is Santa Clara, so we possibly play Santa Clara as well. Last time we played Washington was Dec 2015. We lost by 13 at home to a team that went to the Final Four that season and featured all-time NCAA WBB scoring leader and current Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum. They have dropped off considerably since then. I like our chances better this time around if we do, indeed, play them.

I don’t think we do. Even though their schedule is not posted, somebody on another chat board had a picture of it and it shows Fordham and Santa Clara as their two teams in this tournament. In addition, Washington picked up a really good transfer from Lehigh, a Minnesota (North Tartan) girl who I was really hoping would choose South Dakota.

Yotes didn't shoot it worth a damn that night and Washington had a big girl come out and knock down all four 3s she looked at in the second half as they rallied from a halftime deficit.

Pretty sure that was one of the three games seekamp missed, too. I don’t remember why, but I think there were eligibility things to work out (which we eventually did).

No, she played. It was the beginning of the injury problems that plagued the elder Duffy for a good chunk of that season and eventually ended her career, though.
