If half of the teams in the top 25 played in the Valley, they wouldn't be in the top 25.

If we can look like this in our last two games and finish .500 in the conference, I might reconsider my stance on firing Bob. I wouldn't put money on it though.

I am planting my flag here: Bob needs to stay. He needs to hire a new OC, and if he can get a guy similar to what he did hiring Travis, we are sitting really well. Our schedule next year is NIGHT AND DAY from this year’s. Aiden has the offense looking coherent, D played outstanding in spite of all the injuries. Bob can do it. The University needs to put its FULL support behind him for one more FULL year to prove him out. We have some good looking dudes coming in, but they are FOR SURE gone if Bob is gone. I also think a change at OL is necessary, which is hard to say because I really like Andy.

I'm a patient guy with coaches, especially football, I wouldn't mind Bob staying for length of contract. 2 cents.

So we win a couple of games and now he should stay? We can't afford a buyout of his contract but look at the attendance today and we can't afford to keep him and the boosters.

This team really grew up today and responded after last week. Let the season play out but I like what I saw today. Just keep doing THAT!

I liked how they played a bad Mo St team today, but I'm not changing my tune on Nielsen. Even if they manage to go .500, I'm not satisfied with that in year 7.

The problem with attendance and boosters is bigger than football. It’s an athletic department problem. Don’t be surprised if there are changes at the department level. The changes at that level probably will protect Bob from changes at his level…at least for the next year.

What a fickle bunch are we. Pitchforks and torches last week but a home win over a mediocre team and it’s “what pitchforks and torches”? Even though every win is great and memorable it’s unfortunately because they’re the exception instead of the rule. Wins can’t help but stand out. You suppose NDSU gets bored with winning? Damn I’d love to find out. Is Bob the problem? Hell, I dunno but something has been in the way of consistent winning in football ever since the transition ended. I don’t have a single answer but I damn sure would like to experience what’s it’s like to win enough to get bored with it. Because being disheartened by victory’s absence sucks.

We should be winning at home against bad teams regardless by now. One win over a bad Missouri state team is not enough to change my vote. Get a win on the road against UND or UNI at Home and maybe I’ll consider it.

See my post under Missouri State and then everyone can decide if MSU is a bad team.

See my post under Missouri State and then everyone can decide if MSU is a bad team. You are what your record says you are. Think I heard that somewhere before.

I don’t think the university can simply allow Bob to play out next season as a lame duck. This plays a little bit into what CE said above. I thought we had some young depth guys fill in and play well yesterday. BUT, I am afraid any talk of retaining Bob and allowing him to hire a new OC and make any other changes will be seriously hindered if he doesn’t get a new contract. What decent coach is coming to a new school to work for a HC with zero security? We know the assistants only get 1 year deals so they have leas security, but they likely tie their security to the HC. I just don’t see him playing out the 1 year unless they’re just going to keep the offensive staff in tact, and simply promote from within & make Warren or Paopao the OC. If they were going to do that, they could’ve already named one the interim OC.

I am not 100% on this assumption, but I truly feel that Pauopo is calling the game now, not Coach Nielsen. It just hasn’t been stated. The variety in the passing game concepts and formations in the past 2 games have been to dramatic compared to the games Coach Nielsen called after the Schlafke was let go.
