Since Mazurek didn't play at all in the non-con, is it possible she redshirts? I hope not. But she could be a part of the change/shake things up/try a different path strategy (along with being able to score and rebound around the basket).

There’s plenty of territory between Sweet 16/Summit League title winner and where this team is currently that could be occupied.

... Did all of you honestly think this team was a Sweet 16, or even Summit League contender this year??? ... You made some good points in that post, but these are a couple of ice-cold takes. This is a prototypical "strawman" argument, and hyperbole. In other words: you are creating something fictional to rail against. Literally nobody on this site expressed the view that this team could or would get back to the Sweet 16. I challenge you to find a single post where anyone suggested such a thing. All the posts are here. Even our most delusional homer posters never expressed that sentiment. As to being a contender, again, nobody that I recall ever suggested that USD should be regarded as a favorite to win the conference. I think it was pretty clear to anyone paying attention that State was going to be very heavy favorites, which has played out, albeit with a surprise upset from Montana State. I wouldn't call it ridiculous to have thought (in the preseason) that the Yotes could finish the season #2 or #3. That was the general sentiment at the time. In fact, we were picked #2 in the preseason poll, which is voted on by: "The voting panel included the league’s ten head coaches, sports information directors and select media members." Hell, we even got 10% of the 40 first-place votes, for some odd reason. So are your comments about us fans being delusional also being directed at all the Summit's head coaches, sports information directors and Sports Media? How about the AP preseason poll, that had us getting votes? I was pretty shocked at that one myself. linkLike I said, you have some great insights to what is going on with this team from an XnO's perspective, so I don't want to discourage you. Just don't come on here railing against things that nobody has said. We get enough of that from our little blue guests with giant chips on their shoulders.

She's been dressing, so I have to assume she is close to returning?

OP’s post was too long and idk how to narrow it down. Lol
I get that there are fans who truly only want to comment on the positives and don’t like others pointing out flaws. But it’s a fan forum. Fans react differently and have different perspectives. At the end of the day we all love coyote athletics or we wouldn’t be talking about them. Stop insisting we hate everything Coyote related because we aren’t all “omg look how tired they are they tried hard and that’s all that matters here’s a medal”. Hard work does matter and yes we’ve lost a lot(no one’s disputing it) and we know we weren’t going to win the league or be in the sweet 16.
TLDR: If you don’t like reading valid criticisms by FANS and SUPPORTERS of coyote athletics than don’t read or post on fan boards.

This program and its fans have every right to expect to use the SDSU, Drake, Creighton programs as realistic measuring sticks.
It doesn’t take a hoops savant to measure that currently.

You can say you want Demers to start. You’d probably get a fair amount agreement on it.

Great points here, but what really got to me early on was people calling the players lazy and disinterested. Does anybody honestly believe that to be true? Those sentiments have been tempered quite a bit when the harsh reality of the limitations of this season's roster became obvious. We don't know what or how the young players stepping onto the college court for the first time were taught in high school defensively. Maybe they came from a program that played a zone defense exclusively or one that didn't emphasize defense. I do remember a quote in regard to establishing a program at a high school level that I heard at a basketball coaching clinic from my all-time favorite coach Jerry Tarkanian. "Insist on playing man to man at all the lower levels. It takes a player five or six years to be able to play good man defense spontaneously, but I can teach a zone in ten minutes." This to me is one major difference between last year and this year: the flow and reaction time of the defense to situations. They're still thinking and not automatically reacting.

Hell, we even got 10% of the 40 first-place votes, for some odd reason. I'm pretty sure that all 10 teams each got four votes in the pre-season poll but there is a rule preventing the voter from voting for the school they "represent." So all four Jackrabbit representatives voted the Coyotes to win.

I intentionally stated the overexaggerated "fictional" Sweet 16/Summit League comment. Sorry I expressed my frustration to the negative comments in that way. As far as my suggestions for a different starting line, I will reserve that for myself and my coaching ability. Perhaps I've stirred up enough here. That's for the coaches to figure out anyhow. I just want what's best for this team and it's success. No no don’t be sorry about stirring things up. This fan forum has had much worse controversy from a coyote fan than this that resulted in a certain someone being banned 👀😂 (IYKYK). We always appreciate another perspective….. as long as it’s not blue and yellow tinted. welcome to board!
