So it's time to put away this past season and talk about the future.
Who starts next year? Who makes an impact in the incoming class? Who takes a big step forward? Where do we need help? Can we be a legit contender in the Summit?
What are everyone's thoughts?

While I welcome the discussion, I think it's too early to have it until we know what the rosters are going to look like in the league. It's pure conjecture prior to knowing who will be playing here and in the rest of the Summit after portal season. It's just mostly conjecture after that

Starters outside of Larkins (and I would think Duffney) have to be so up in the air with how kids are coming back off injury that it seems almost impossible to predict.
I think Klosterbuer is going to make an immediate impact.
I think Demers should be prime for a jump with an offseason of hard work.
Need more playmaking and defensive presence (interior and perimeter).
I don't think they're going to legitimately threaten State at the top next year but that's the beauty of hoops ... offseason development and new faces and renewed health can change the picture quite a bit.

But it beats talking about a coach who is two jobs removed from our program.

I agree it's unlikely that they unseat State at the top of the Summit. But I'm hopeful that the things you mention help narrow that gap and at least make things interesting. Adding a big that can be a defensive presence inside would be huge. Of course, everybody's looking for one of those. I'm hopeful as well that some of the young players that got minutes this year will show improvement on the defensive end. Learning to play defense at this level is often one of the more difficult things for young players to really get. Usually takes some time.

Saw her play once this winter. She looks like the real deal and I'm hoping for big things from her. SDSU should be a big favorite going into next season as I think they'll still have a few super seniors, but after that it should be wide open just like this season. If we could climb into even a second seed it would indicate progress...baby steps, build the foundation.

We will know more in June. Maybe we get a transfer. It well be nice if we are healthy then. I heard we are going to have some walk-ons

I have a hard time seeing how a kid with that kind of stroke (both on the catch and off the bounce) and confidence doesn't help out almost immediately.

I think Larkins and Duffney start, along with Grange if she is back and healthy. Anyone heard anything about that? My understanding was that she was likely to return, but that could change.

I tend to agree but if Bergstrom is as advertised that looks like four kids under 5-11 that appear to be starters. Need some length.

Here's a random stab at it:
PG: ..........Larkins/Bergstrom/ NAA SG: .........Grange/ Klosterbuer/ Kieffer Wing:.......Duffney/ Hansen/ Carson /Hempe Stretch 4:(transfer)/ Broughton Center: ....Mazurek/ Demers/ Haydon
key: CURRENTLY INJURED NEWCOMMER
If Bergstrom is good enough at PG, I'd maybe rather see Larkins off-ball sometimes. Not sure if that is in the cards, though. Seems like this staff wants her to be the primary PG. I really have no idea which guards would be considered PG or SG, so I went with height.
With Duffney, she was way out of position playing the 4 or 5, but I'd love for her to be more of a Wing player. We will need to bring in some size for that to happen, though. Would love to pick up an experienced Forward or two in the portal with some size and length.
I think walk-ons is a great idea. Would have been nice last season. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see a certain player transfer out to make room, and I'll leave it at that. At minimum we will probably see some of our 6 "juniors" get upgraded to "senior" status by next Fall, just to make room for the 2024 class.
I think we could see all of our freshmen getting significant minutes, but it would shock me to see any of them start. Have heard lots about Klosterbuer, but she won't push out Larkins or Grange. Maybe if Grange isn't healthy. Broughton might see more time simply based on her position. Who knows.

I don't know where Broughton is in terms of recovering from all the injuries but I'd think she's going to take a little time to adjust. Kieffer's not going to get significant minutes next year, if any.

Grange has been granted a medical hardship and another year of eligibility next year. Sounds like she will return for the Yotes. This is good news.

It's a huge jump going from Class B to D1 in terms of competition. She has the ability and athleticism when fully healthy. I think she needs a redshirt year to adjust, get healthy, and get stronger. Sets her up for success. I don't think she'll be ready year one for any significant minutes. We'll see but that's the way I see it going down.
