I think this Saturday was an anomaly and we have a very good football team across the board. Maybe not up to the consistency level of the top 5-7 teams in the country , but a good football team. However, I do think that our QB play in the big games is critical and it was below par on Saturday, but I'm sure Bouman will rebound this Saturday. He seems to struggle mightilyon deep post routes or deep crossers over the middle of the field and typically throws them short or behind the WR like he was on Saturday because of poor feet mechanics. It forces the WRs to make ultra ultra competitive catches instead of staying in stride to catch them on the run. I've seen this quite a bit throughout the year and fortunately his WRs have bailed him out a few times. Shore that up and we will be golden in the passing game. Unfortunately this assessment is spot on… could not agree more. We are one dimensional at QB. I’m not knocking the guy because he is who he is but we are not a run threat at all, we cannot extend plays, and he is so elongated in his mechanics that it’s difficult for him to throw quick short passes. He has demonstrated that multiple times. I believe its up to the coaching staff , namely Davis, to design the call sheet to his strengths and not call plays that make his skill set a difficult throw. To his credit, his stat line from an efficiency standpoint has been pretty good. With all that said, I thought it was men amongst boys throughout the whole game. They were just better than we were across the board. I disagree with your assessment that he can't extend plays. He's proven that he's good enough at shifting, sliding and escaping when he needs to. He just isn't going to go 80 yards on anyone or break into the secondary on an RPO. He's an old school QB. His arm is accurate and strong enough for this level but he isn't the "modern" style QB. Agree 100% on his wind up.

Aidan Bouman is a heck of a QB, no one can tell me any different. None of the statements said, says that our QB cannot nor has not played exceptional at times. Yes, though, he does have things he needs to continue to work on as any QB does. Deep balls over the middle fall short consistently because of footwork in the pocket and lack of driving the ball down the field to hit WRs in stride. There is absolutely no way he will out throw a few of our WRs so hang it loose when the opportunity allows an over the top throw and let them go get it. Yes, WRs can bail out a bad throw like we have seen before, but if you've ever played the position, having to come back into the ball or slowing down to make the throw right and catching the ball through hands is a very hard and competitive catch isn't as easy as people in the stands think it is.

I'm with you. I would roll with the kid any day despite what shortcomings there may be. He is plenty talented and does things the right way. Coach him up and call plays to put players in position to succeed. Sometimes we'll win, sometimes we'll lose, but it will rarely be due to qb play with him on the field.
