I'm torn on whether or not this is a good thing for the program. The Yotes need something to bring fans back to the program, but the last thing I need is to see Corso wearing a rabbit head in front of the dome. We have a hard enough time recruiting in our own backyard, having national media talking about how great state is won't help that. Gameday went to Brookings 4 years ago, NDSU won that game, and it has all been downhill since for sdsu.

I'm just not sure my ego can handle the game day crew picking state to beat us in the dome.

Gameday went to Brookings a few years ago mainly for NDSU, and SDSU lost, but it’s been a big bragging point for State ever since. Lee Corso could paint himself blue and yellow for all I care. Just get ESPN into Vermillion.

Yes, even if it's likely none of the experts pick the Yotes, a GameDay appearance is program-changing. And yes, the Jacks being #1 is a big driver, but ESPN wouldn't come to Vermillion if the Yotes weren't successful either. A state rivalry is part of it too.
Now let's hope it happens.

There would also be about 1,000 replays of the Vermiraclce too, so that would balance out the non-red in attendance.

This is NOT what I was expecting to read opening this thread today... I can understand the trepidation from some, with the Jacks as heavy favorites, and likely will overrun not just the stadium but the tailgating/ GameDay backdrop crowd..... But honestly this might just be the exact thing that his fanbase needs to wake the F up. We might be surprised at the Gameday turnout. and those that end up going to more games afterward. Y'all had better be welcoming (not salty) to bandwagon fans, because we need them to jump on board...

This was a big thing when NDSU came to Brookings. The most annoying thing was listening to the NDSU fans saying the only reason Gameday is in Brookings is because the were in town. While that was true if we weren’t #3 they wouldn’t have been there either. So while the Jacks being #1 is a big draw if USD wasn’t potentially going to be a top 5 team ESPN wouldn’t even be thinking about it. Now let’s just hope both teams take care of business this week so that this can happen.

I mean, if ESPN is looking for something "special" about this game.... look no further than the Boys at Gameday being the catalyst to re-instate the oldest non-ivy league traveling trophy in FCS, and one of the oldest in all of college football....The Roy C. Davis Little Brown Jug --------------- South Dakota Football Teams ---------------
You know, nothing special.

Both teams won today. Both teams tremendously underwhelmed their fans. Surely neither team was looking ahead to the game in Vermillion.

I would bet anything that, regardless of results, ESPN takes Gameday to the Florida-Georgia game to promote their properties during this volatile time. Nevermind what may be the most interesting game or story in college football.
