I know it’s tournament time, but today we played hard and had some fight. That’s what we need to have all year long. Love getting behind that fight and heart. Now we have to find some ways to score when that 3 ball isn’t going.

Great effort today, I think that was actually a pretty winnable game and our best effort of the season. One area that probably could’ve been cleaned up was how much we relied on grace to handle the ball. Grace is a great player but our coaches need to realize or make grace realize that the ball does not need to be in her hands at all times, in most games yes you want her to get things set up and run it, but not this one. She’s been the primary person of attention all afternoon so pass that ball off and create a play to draw attention away from the ball and open up some looks for herself and others.

Lady Yotes tough and obviously had a legitimate shot. Proud of their effort and toughness!!
Hopefully we'll get to see them again soon in the WNIT!!!

Not the outcome we had hoped for, but certainly not a surprise. Great effort by the Yotes today. They played hard and with a lot of intensity for the entire 40 minutes.
Time to ponder for a bit, regroup, and get ready for next year.
This one has been interesting to say the least.

Girls played hard today had trouble in the second quarter as shots didn't fall made a run at them late then seem to tire and a couple turnovers hurt. But playing without our second leading scorer we hung in there but I am proud of the effect . with 3 redshirts back and 3 new recruits it will get better

I thought it was an excellent effort today. They just are not good enough to beat that team without some real good shooting. That wasn't there today, but they were pretty even in the possession game (turnovers, rebounding). And the big thing was that they didn't look out of place out there. They competed.
A big difference is just the length Brooklyn Meyer has. The Yotes had that advantage from '19-'22. It's just a difference maker. Her length advantage (and touch around the basket) over Demers forced double-teams. I thought Mazurek really worked hard in trying to deny the ball when she was in there. Nice to see Avila-Ambrosi play so well. She has some midrange game that I don't think we saw often enough this year.
I think playing the Jacks in the Denny was good for them. It shows those that haven't played there a ton of what it takes to beat them. That's always good. I think the Yotes will be better next year. Of course, the Jacks may be untouchable but I hope the Yotes are on an upward trend.

Didn't make a difference in the game, but I found it humorous that a rash of Coyote fouls immediately followed a AJ hissy fit.

Didn't make a difference in the game, but I found it humorous that a rash of Coyote fouls immediately followed a AJ hissy fit. It's been happening for 20+ years. The refs are always in his pocket, especially at Frost and in the SL tourney. You have to outplay them by at least 15 points to overcome it on an average night.

Not apples to apples … but getting the ball and having fun is worth a lot.

Good gawd, quit the whining. Ban me if you want, but good lord let it go.
Why would you want B Meyer to leave? It won’t help the yotes win, regardless of what the yote team brings in/back. She’s not going to leave. Wouldn’t you rather they beat the Jacks with the best players. Idiotic mindset to wish for another team to come down a level so your own team is more competitive. Newsflash, the Jacks will be very good for years to come.
The chance for the league was this year, down 5 players to injury. 2 invited players to just field a practice team.
Regarding AJ, get a grip. Honestly poll any coach in the college game and they’ll be the first to tell you AJ is the consummate professional. Fortunately the yotes have similar in Kairus and Jewett. It’s not like he’s up and down the sideline screaming like Jory Collins. Watch the championship game tomorrow, you’ll see “hissy fits”.
Every team gets calls at times, also deal with missed calls. Stop using the refs as an excuse. And I’d say this on a jackrabbit board just the same.
Hopefully the Lady Yotes get an invite to a post season tourney and can do some damage. Also, find a way to get fans to the arena if they host. It’s always better when several teams are doing well and fanbases are engaged.

I obviously don't know AJ personally so you certainly could be right about him. As far as refs go, you are simply wrong. I think some of it can be chalked up the the aggressive, attacking offensive play he has always coached. I wouldn't dispute that and I think today it was a factor. Officiating in Brookings has always been next level Homer. I grew up near there and have personally witnessed it for over 30 years. Tournament officiating is different and favors the Jacks style too, but the crowd seems to affect the refs in sioux falls. It always has. All that being said, with a few exceptions, state brings the best group of players to sioux falls and has the best tactician on the bench. Their success there isn't an accident. We've been at that level and it's been bitter to see how quickly we fell. We're trying to play catch up again and it plain sucks.

I surely would not advocate for anyone leaving as it is their experience and they need to do what is best for them. However I do disagree with you that a person would not be nuts for leaving. Factors: 1. Resources offered by a University from meals, travel, cost of attendance, NIl opportunities.. 2. Competition. It is not far fetched to say the summit league is a poor women’s basketball conference. You basically play an entire conference season without be challenged. At the Power 5 level it is a battle every night so personal improvement is more natural. Thriving to be your best. 3. Future of college basketball? It is not hard to imagine the power 5 conferences or Power 6 breaking off from the rest of division 1 schools for the NCAA tournament. The smaller schools do not move the needle for revenue and the big schools are sharing the pot. I would hate to see this but a future like football with FBS and FCS in basketball might not be to far off. 4. Players like Matt Mooney, Stanley Umude, Max Avmas have had incredible experiences leaving the summit leave. Many mid major players have had incredible experiences as well. Look at Dalton Knecht leaves Northern Colorado and will probably be SEC player of the year. 5. Personally I hope all players stay and fulfill their dreams but between The Yotes and the school up North we have had many players that would have been good in the power 5 level and unfortunately the money and resources are just getting bigger. Stay or go but a person surely is not nuts for leaving.

Hence so many players that can play the 1-4 spot. But if it truly is the style of play why do t more teams adopt that. I mean if that’s what it takes to compete and win. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
