Mike Jewitt to Creighton!  nice move for him.  I know he has talked about not wanting to move too far from SD and family, but you could do much worse than a private school salary in Omaha.  Great town, and not too far away.

Sheesh, and I thought the BlueJays were ramping up their raids of our state in the past, ... don't look now, but things have escalated.

Great news for Mike and well deserved.  At the end of the day I think it was a smart move by our current staff not to retain Mike (even if he would have stayed).  It's good to start with a clean slate, move on from this last staff, and start something fresh and exciting without any possible locker room concerns related to holdover coaches and player loyalties.  The move just simplifies things and solidifies things moving forward with a clear direction.  Coach Jewitt was well liked and respected, he'll do great in Omaha!

Wanted to share something about Coach E....

I was looking at Idaho's "defensive efficiency" numbers, and despite the fact that they had close to a .500 win/loss record in her first season...
they went from one of the worst defensive teams in the country to one of the best.

In one season.

2023 Idaho - allowed 98.9 points per 100 possessions (#320 of 360 in NCAA)
2024 Idaho - allowed 87.4 pp100 (#73 in NCAA) (3rd best in Big Sky) (would have been second-best in Summit - SDSU allowed 86.9)

That's such a massive turnaround defensively in one year, that I can't help but be optimistic about the 2024-25 Yotes.  If we have even half of that improvement, we should be back to a top-2 team because of our offensive potential.
