Looks like LMU was picked 10th out of 11 WCC teams. That's typically a good BB league, both for men and women. In Massey (uses mix of last year in early season) #193 USD #207 LMU Using the "simple ratings system" from this site: (this year only) SportsReference.com
#259 USD #283 LMU LMU lost to a very good UNLV team 57-73 then beat Bethesda (NCCAA, similar to D-II) 101-43 kinda hard to judge how good they are with those results. Either way, this could be just what the doctor ordered in terms of a similar-strength team matchup in the friendly confines. Maybe we can make some progress in figuring out what we want to look like defensively?

Another one that is definitely winnable if you can box out and take care of the ball.

with such a small amount of data, crunching stats is.... questionable at best.... .... but it's still fun. Big Picture Stat: Offense and Defense ratings (points per 100 possessions) note: I'm excluding the LMU game vs non-D1When USD is on OffenseYote O Eff | 91.8 | Average | Lion D Eff | 112.0 | Terrible (bottom 15) | net diff | +20.2 | Very Good |
When LMU is on OffenseLion O Eff | 92.9 | Average | Yote D Eff | 96.6 | Below Ave | net diff | +3.7 | Average |
The Yotes have played a little faster than average, and the Lions have played a little slower... so using an NCAA average # possessions of 70..... I'll predict Yotes win 72-65 (-7)

LMU leading scorers (so far in 2024) Maya Hernandez #55 SO F 6-1 16.5 Pts, 7.5 Reb, 3.0 Ast Brandi Williams #0 SR G 5-6 16.5 Pts, 3.0 Reb, 1.5 Ast These two players score differently, Maya has not attempted a 3-pointer, so is strictly a Forward. She shoots 55% FG and 64% FT. She has also drawn the most fouls, and leads the team in steals. Brandi is a small guard who only shoots 25% inside the arc, but shoots 69% outside! She has the 2nd-most 3PT attempts at 14. She is also deadly from the stripe, shooting 80%

Looking at the "four factors" specifically at the Lion's defense, looks like they allow a high shooting%, and they don't create turnovers at a high rate.
They are NOT a foul-prone team, so we will have to get our points the old-fashioned way.
I think the turnover thing is a big weakness for the Yotes, so this is probably a good match-up in that regard.

Midco sports still shows that the game is at 7, so it will not allow me to click on the icon to watch the game.

Same. I’m assuming with the game time being changed something didn’t get changed. Sure glad I pay for this kind of service.

LMU might be the worst dribble penetration defense I’ve ever seen.
Congrats to Coach E on her first win.
What’s the all-time single game Yotes scoring record because Larkins might break it.

Wow! Much better defending. Pretty nice all around. Not perfect, but definite progress
