Cossette tore ACL. I would wonder if Coons is ready coming off her ACL?

Don't understand how a team can fall off the map so fast. All started with coach Kayla who put us in the hole and now it just gets deeper. The days of Chloe and Hannah and Liv are gone and I don't see them coming back. We're going to have to recruit our way out of it. Those girls were unicorns in that they were extremely physically talented basketball players but were also high basketball IQ. I don't want to accept it, but the reality is those types of players don't grow on trees.

Well, they don't grow on trees but they definitely grow.
Of the three unicorns listed, only Sjerven, a transfer who had a season at another school and a season of practice and no games, started a single game in their first season on campus, and she only started one (Korngable probably didn't get a single start until like her fourth year) and they weren't expected to be main offensive options until getting quite a bit of experience and learning from those in front of them.
You've got to have horses learning from other horses.
If I'm a college coach, I've got a board of damn near every lineup in the country ... and I'm keeping a close eye on kids that are obviously talented but may not be getting the run they're expecting where they're at.

Coach P kind-of lucked into Sjerven, in that: Sjerven actually sought HER out, on the advice of someone... don't remember if it was an AAU coach or something like that. (please correct me) Anyway, Coach P already had a reputation of past achievements and industry contacts, so that paid dividends for her in the case of Sjerven, anyway. You are 100% correct on Korngable, although I remember Chloe making a big impact as a freshmen, and playing a good deal, (maybe not starting). Coach P and her staff definitely could develop kids. Coach K was not anywhere near as connected, so although she placed a lot of emphasis on recruiting... it's probably a lot easier with a reputation and contacts. Coach P already had a D-II championship at Grand Valley State, Coach of the Year accolades, and a successful program build at Michigan as an assistant. A track record. I feel like Coach Eighmey also has a lot of cache, experience and contacts as a coach, albeit at a slightly lower level than Coach P (but more regional for USD!) I trust where she will take this program. It just seems like it may be a bigger re-build than we had realized...

Hell, you could say Coach P lucked into Ciara Duffy, too. She wasn't going anywhere else, and was an easy sell. With her talent, if Caitlin wasn't in Vermillion I don't know if she sticks with it. And without Ciara, does the rest of the class re-consider too?
Hard to say. It was a different time.

Plitzuweit brought us to heights that might not ever be duplicated again, but she left the tank completely empty for the future. Look at the players she inherited compared to what she left. The best hope now is that Eighmey stays and is given the time to rebuild, and it's going to take a few years. Hopefully this year's and next year's freshmen classes have a few difference makers.

Lamb definitely played as a freshman and showed that she was a hooper, but she didn't start until her sophomore year and didn't average double figures scoring until her junior year. She had to pay her dues and learn from Arens, Trimboli, McKeever, etc.

Coach E is not a high risk vs high reward hire like Coach K. She will build us back to at least a good to great programmatic level, but it’s going to take time. Admin should and will give her that time. The main causes for impatience amongst us fans are that we’re accustomed to winning and that SDSU is going to be in contention for the conference title just like they are every f___ing year. That second point is just something we’re going to have to live with.

Watched the quick headset post-game interview on the floor after the game (had to wait a while on the Midco Stream)
I have to say Coach E had two very different interviews between that one and the one on the YouTube link.... She was visibly upset and trying to contain her frustration, and clearly did not want to do that interview. Jerry P tried to make a little joke and it completely fell flat, with no response from her....It was a little bit (just a little) like a Coach Knight interview.... I loved it. Love that passion. She isn't as "mild-mannered" as she might come off at times. Don't get it twisted, she's a competitor. Let's see if she can light a fire under someone's arse.
